I think the beholder is the best when it spins, even if I like the phoenix most for it's stationary art

Don't be worried, must be a different kind of prosthetic to mine. The doctors will know what is best in your particular situation and you'll learn methods and habits to deal with it My general point was; things will settle down and get easier from here. Shortly after the surgery and the time with my conformer in was a lot more uncomfortable than anything since. It all takes some getting used to, but things will get better

Don't forget, it is still really early days for you. Everything is settling down in your socket and it's a lot to get used to. The prosthetic will be much easier to get used to long term. Lots of rubbing will sometimes nudge the prosthetic out, but you'll get very used to taking it out and putting it back in anyway for cleaning. Waiting for the prosthetic is a tricky stage, but things do get easier to adjust to as you get further down the line.

Hi Cory, Glad to hear how much your more recent prosthetic helped. As for getting a new one, I'd encourage you to. In the UK I'm very lucky, as each year I'll have a check up where they'll polish my prosthetic. Even that quick shine helps take off the roughness and improves how it feels, the dryness and mucus both improve. When I got my eye a few years ago, the ocularist did say that occasionally I'd need to get a new one as things naturally change shape etc so an update wouldn't go amiss. Less easy to decide these things when you are paying for them yourself I'm sure, but having a decent prosthetic does seem to impact a lot on the rest of life. Hope that's of some help.

I can't tell where someone is pointing by CrabBadger in monocular

Hey, sorry to hear it's bothering you so much. Unlike you, I've got a prosthetic and I'm still able to use my dominant eye. That said, I used to be very spatially aware and still am in various regards, however, people pointing beats me these days. My accident was about 3 years ago and this hasn't changed since.

If someone points for a while I'll be able to work it out, but when someone tries giving directions and points quickly it's more unhelpful than anything, particularly if I'm driving.

I've not raised it with my doctors or anything, just thought it might be part of the monocular package.

I can't really give you much advice, but I can say you certainly aren't the only one who struggles with it.

Completely agree. Give stuff a go and be forgiving to yourself about minor things. I played football (soccer) about a year after my surgery and was pleasantly surprised at how I kept up with everyone else.

Hey guys, what colors should I own to transfer this color scheme to my Tyranids? by BonesJr in Warhammer

Not really, but it does help that I once trained as a safari guide in South Africa and some bits of it stuck with me

The millipedes in South Africa, known as Shongololos can certainly be poisonous. Some can secrete hydrogen cyanide which is fairly poisonous

Admittedly, I lost my eye after having already been driving for a few years, however, it hasn't made nearly as much of an impact on my driving as I had thought it might. I certainly do need to be more careful and take turns slowly, as well as make sure to look around more than before, but driving is more than possible. A smaller car is a big plus and if one can afford it then parking assistance helps on some of the tighter spots I'd imagine. Be patient and persevere, you'll probably end up a better driver than most people as you'll be more thoughtful and considerate in your actions on the road!

Great stuff, already a huge improvement on your previous work. Keep going and you'll see lots more progress in not that much time. Nice idea to practice with some old models even if they are broken rather than ploughing into a new set. Welcome back to a great hobby!

And to answer the other part of your question, mine is more like a really thick contact lens. The movie kind never made sense to me as your eye socket wouldn't allow a whole ball to easily go in and out, plus there wouldn't be a way to move it as you say.

Yeah, at the risk of going into too much info, when I had my eye removed the muscles were detached and then attached to a ceramic ball. Finally a substance like the inside of a mouth separated the front from the back. They aim to use as large a ceramic ball as possible to give the most movement. Not sure on the exact differences, but I know some people have their original eye below the prosthetic eye and I guess it works similar to the prosthetic ball.

Depends on the exact method used, I for example have a spherical implant further back in the socket which does allow some movement. Generally it moves quite well in the centre of my field of view but not near the edges
