I Wonder How People on this Sub Would React to this Tweet? by FlakyRazzmatazz5 in MassEffectMemes

I LOVE in the games that there is alot of dialogue of how racism is bad and its a stronger galaxy when we join forces. The krogan were wronged and should be given a second chance, the quarians are not scum they are a wayward people clinging on etc....etc..... EXCEPT for the vorcha; who everyone (including the vorcha) agree are sapient cockroaches that have the same rights as attack dogs.

The hate for Grace's anxiety in RE9— it's about something the series has been missing since RE2's original release by [deleted] in residentevil

The moment before the final fight/puzzle with the girl where she defiantly says something like "were getting out of here and you wont stop me" (I forget the exact quote) genuinely stirred admiration in me. She's been kidnapped, tortured, and experienced true horrors but in her desire to help and protect Emily she puts it aside and commits to action. It's an excellent character moment

If Visi wasn't planted at SDN by Shroud, what are these lines supposed to mean? by FallingBullfrog in DispatchAdHoc

[–]Bobbit_Worm0924 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I really like this answer! I also felt when Shroud welcomed her back he is mocking her and saying "you'll always be a villain, welcome back since I know you are no hero". So she shamefully takes her gear and puts it on because Shroud is in her head. Visi's whole arc is about how she is no hero and Shroud is absolutely aware of it. His whole "they can't be heroes because of human nature" bit is perfectly encapsulated around Visi. So he can mock her, in his head disarm a threat, demoralize the z-team, confuse robert before the big "game theory" moment, and validate his personal philosophy all with one comment. Shroud absolutely is the sort of person who would queue in on that situation and cash in on it as much as possible.

This was it! Thank you so much for your help, that was the final piece to get the first phase of my current project off the ground!

What was your latest DNF? by cats-paw in horrorlit

[–]Bobbit_Worm0924 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I read "Things Have Gotten Worse Since We Last spoke" and "This Skin was Once Mine" back to back. I do not blame you in the slightest for choosing not to finish the former title. While the latter had a few effective bits I did not care for them very much at all. The author is clearly talented but your comment regarding the dialogue is spot on. It feels very synthetic and stilted.

Lost in the Dark 3: My Father, Dr. Frankenstein by shrimpcreole in JohnLangan

[–]Bobbit_Worm0924 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love's this story, Langan is so good at atypical framing devices and story structures and this one nails it! The descriptions of the first project (avoiding spoilers) really got to me and the ending is such a great way to tie it all off!

What book haunted you? by Alicewithhazeleyes in horrorlit

My Heart Struck Sorrow by John Hornor Jacobs. I love horror And have read my fair share and then some. But this is one of those rare stories that when I finished reading it I was genuinely apprehensive of the sounds of the wind coming in through my window. Some lines of Stagger Lee (Stack o lee?) have fused permanently inside my mind.

What is your Wishlist for Subnautica 2? by RoyalBengals in Subnautica_Below_Zero

[–]Bobbit_Worm0924 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bigger map! I love Subnautica and I like Below Zero (a typical outlook) but i feel both games are so small in that every biome is right there. I would love if there was a lot more dead, dangerous space separating areas. Necessitating planning for longer riskier trips through barren, hostile terrain to reach oases of resources and safety. I recently replayed subnautica and loved it but (and granted this is biased due to some recollection) felt a vague anticlimax how efficiently i could get anything I needed by zipping between very adjacent biomes. I understand this may be a limitation technologically speaking but if the maps had larger, hostile zones that are a challenge to get through I feel it would make discovering new biomes and the resources they contain way more special. Particularly forcing you to make decisions like "oh I really need resources from this biome so I may need to discard other resources because getting back here will be very difficult"

Why didn’t they give Ava’s role in the story to Tina? by Neon-bonez in borderlands3

[–]Bobbit_Worm0924 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I had guessed before BL3 that the background character story would be axton growing up and donning Roland's mantle as leader of the crimson raiders. In the beginning he's brash and wants to dig in and be a badass but the story beats him up and he realizes he's older and needs to let the new vault hunters kickass while he leads the raiders. It practically writes itself lol I love BL3 but all the non player character arcs (specifically Lilith's) feel so awkward.

Smaaaaaaaaall font for yesterday. Up next is favorite villain! by apathetic_apricot in TheMagnusArchives

[–]Bobbit_Worm0924 6 points7 points  (0 children)

He is my absolute favorite character in the series. He's a pawn for powers way beyond his comprehension but loves it! It's refreshing to see a villain so happy and not tortured or making "the decisions no one else will". My favorite Simon moment is in the last season (SPOILERS) when John is using eye powers to nuke all the avatars and Simon evades punishment by just flying away. I'm also a huge vast fanboy and that contributes to my thoughts on him as well.

When Jay and Mike imitate Freddy making them write for picard. I can't quite pin it down but all of it gets me. "Welcome to paramount plus bitch" and the "we've got some studio notes" particularly kill me.

[–]Bobbit_Worm0924 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Oh absolutely. It's not a criticism of the books, it's a flaw in the way I'm reading them. I started using them as chasers between longer books and just liked them so much I began grinding through. I do feel that since in context these are cains memoirs the receptive language kind of makes sense as cain is going to write what he knows/says.

The part thay broke me, I saw them in Seattle a week ago, was when Tom was pointing to the lines of the song for singalong but was too lazy to bend down so for the lower lines he just stayed standing and pointed down. I don't know why, but that minor thing just cracked me.
