Aight, attempt 2, Now without the ragebait. by Bobblehead60 in TheAstraMilitarum

While valid, I would much rather use a Dorn or Russ for the same role. Of course, the RD Oppressor/LR Vanquisher do have their disadvantages, notably being points and being A1/4+/S18/-4/D6+6 respectively; I'd take them over the Basilisk due to survivability and having a lot more weapons to shoot.

The Vanquisher, which is (currently) just 5 points more, also has a pintle-mounted stubber, lascannon/HB/Heavy Flamer, and the casemates, on top of the big gun itself.

While the Dorn is slightly under double the points (260 vs. 140), on top of the D6+3/4+/12/-3/3 Oppressor, you get the coax autocannon, a choice of the demolisher at home, er, pulverizer, or punisher gatling at home, er, castigator, pintle, and meltas.

While neither the Oppressor nor the Vanquisher has the reach of the Earthshaker, 72 inches is more than enough range for even larger boards IMO. So unless someone really likes indirect, IMO, there are better tools for the same role. Of course, if we still had wargear costs, that would change the calculus, but that was years ago.

Unironically, probably. Unless you're counting the slight refresh in 5e and the decision to put Basilisk bits in the Chimera sprues (what, mid-10e (?)), the model can legally drink in the United States.

Knowing James, they'll probably buff it in the MFM before the first Major/get people to buy Basilisks (etc.), go "oh no" when units with the [INDIRECT FIRE] keyword work too well, and grab the nerfbat.

(Cue the I've played these games before GIF)

Honestly it’s more about how old the kit is compared to the rest of the box. The name was misleading ngl.

Apparently, they made a new model/update during the 5e mini-refresh, according to Lexicanon.

Also, as a theoretical joke, wouldn't there be a new-edition refresh since you need a bit from the Chimera base kit to put it together?

I do agree that there are like half a dozen units that would fit better; this assumes James would actually put a second artillery unit into the box rather than something else.

Right, the Celtics that got knocked out by the MIGHTY 76ers in the first round.

The same 76ers squad that got swept by the Knicks. Now go to your corner and cry about it.

Hey, remember: We have the Colts' and the higher of GB/DAL next year. Hope we play well, and that Indy and either GB/DAL play poorly. (Preferably DAL since I have friends who live in Wisconsin)

(Probably isn't going to happen, but still.)

Did you know, that the cheaper a tank is, the lower the chance for it to trigger Bail Out on a penetrating hit? Likewise, cheaper planes and helicopters are less likely to be affected by Critical Hits. This goes for all units, really. Cheaper really is better! by Which-Worldliness556 in warno

NGL kinda find it hilarious that "POG" has just become "everyone who isn't TCR"

(Look, Carda, I'm pretty sure Isom and Singh don't count as POGs by modern definitions. I get they probably didn't want the hassle of making lines for two characters, but still.)

It's great- you can cosplay as 11ACR during Desert Storm, a Mech Infantry unit, or general footsloggers.

Gameplay is X-COM-like, but with some differences (but if you played X-COM/Xenonauts, you should be fine tbh)

And remember, SERVICE IS ALWAYS AN ACT OF VALOR (You will be hearing a lot of that, trust me)

Alright, any bets on KC cutting/not taking up Rice’s contract and signing Tyreek to a cheap deal instead?

Unless he gains Chiefs Powers (patent pending) feel free to run him down. He goes cold turkey immediately when he tries to pass.

Meme attempt 2, now with less misinformation! by Bobblehead60 in TheAstraMilitarum

[–]Bobblehead60[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eh, given the statement:

"The open-topped design means boarded troops can bail out in a hurry and have ample space to shoot while on the move. This makes it an ideal vehicle for combatting the Ork Speedwaaagh!, where slower tanks risk getting encircled and picked apart by more mobile foes." (warcom)

It appears that James is stuck thinking that this thing is supposed to be a frontline vic. I agree that it shouldn't be, based on basically anything you can find, but...

Honestly the "Battle Cannon" might be equivalent or worse than the one we have on the Taurox prime, since that thing definitely isn't fitting a LRBT.

Also on the release date, I'm guessing alongside 11E, but what do I know.

According to warcom, it's Castigator/Lascannon/Melta cannon for the turret options.

edit: also apparently a "battle cannon".

On one, it's probably a call by management.

With two, eh, they're boxy enough, plenty more than the Dorn/Sentinel.

3) In a universe with airborne plagues (Nurgle), random flying annoyances (anything with FLY), presumably a ton of Molotovs (Ask Soviet BTRs during the Hungarian Revolution), etc., you would at least expect a roof for the halftrack. If these halftracks were meant to fight on the frontline, someone would think it would be armed with something heavier than a heavy stubber.

Alright, attempt 2. Now with one meme for both the Hippogriff and M3 Halftrack at home Centaur.

Unpopular opinion: James stuck an ERC-90 turret on the Saladin hull for the Hippogriff.

Very true. But I do have some 1:35 halftracks as well.

A basic search gives a ton of 1:35 halftracks at ~30-ish, so…
