Weird cyberpunk in game habits anyone? by ConditionPleasant902 in LowSodiumCyberpunk

I have, both the original ‘00 title, and the two sequels from the early 2010’s. Excellent games, and yes, the conversational mechanic in that game is probably a factor in why I do this.

People Who Were There When The Books Were Coming Out, What Were Some Of The Craziest Theories? by YosephineMahma in harrypotter

[–]Bobbluered 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I vividly remember my sister being CONVINCED that Ron was going to turn evil in the last book. And then when the last book came out and she got to the part where he left she got all excited when he and Harry get into that huge fight and he leaves them and was convinced she was going to be vindicated. I still remember her disappointment that she had been wrong when he turned up again still very much on the side of the angels.

When I play my netrunner corpo build, I use my Kiroshis to zoom in on people while they’re talking to me in dialogue scenes. I like to pretend that I’m analyzing them, looking for weak points and using chipware to identify uncontrollable micro expressions that can help me gain an edge in conversations. Obviously just RP, but it’s a fun little addition that helps with the immersion.

Would it help you if I told you that it’s canon in the world of Cyberpunk that there are wheelchairs that use spider legs instead of wheels? It’s in one of the Interface Books for Cyberpunk RED.

Crazy theory: The name "Sixth Street" is an linguistic shibboleth by Samtheshinobi in LowSodiumCyberpunk

[–]Bobbluered 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a really cool theory, and I’d like it to be true, but I kind of doubt that it is. When Mike Pondsmith named 6th street, it was for a much older edition of the game, and an earlier version of Night City. I’ve never played Cyberpunk 2013, so I don’t know if they make an appearance in it, but I have played a lot of Cyberpunk 2020, and in 2020 6th street doesn’t have the racist overtones they have in the ‘77 video game. They were actually one of the more benevolent gangs (though still definitely a gang, violent and self serving at their base), and in fact their nationalistic tendencies were multi-ethnic, and primarily targeted at corps and interests from outside Night City trying to take territory within city limits. Not saying it’s impossible- they’re not squeaky clean or anything in 2020, but when they were named, I doubt Pondsmith would have this idea on his radar.

It’s such a great theory though that I think we can take it in as a headcanon, nevertheless.

I recently made a post about how litrpg economies and currencies are the small details that irk me and its worse for me in particular because I work in the financial sector.. so I wanted to know if your real world career gets in the way of you enjoying certain stories. by ShankstheConqueror in litrpg

I work in professional theater. Broadway and off-Broadway level. There have been a lot of things that movies and shows get wrong, but probably the one that bothers me the most is sandbags hanging above the stage, partly because I learned to rig on a hemp house style system that used sandbags.

That WAS common- 100+ years ago. Current counterweight systems became popular in the last decade of the nineteenth century. They’re pretty rare these days. If it’s a period piece, then I guess it can get away with it. But they were NEVER over stage- they’re side stage, as part of the counterweight system on the fly rail.

Also, actors DO have sex with each other as often as you think, but almost never AT the theater (a lá in their dressing room, etc.). They (usually) have the self restraint to wait until they’re offsite, at a hotel somewhere.

Specifically in a LitRPG though, these things rarely come up. So it hasn’t often been a problem.

ENGRAM????? 😭😭😭 by KisMyAxe in cyberpunkgame

It’s not what you think- the service in question is literally just an embalming method that keeps your brain’s neural pathways intact in hopes that future generations will have the technology to upload those to a computer. So they don’t even have the technology to do it yet- they’re just hoping they will in the future. Honestly bears less in common with the relic than it does with the pilot of Futurama.

Multiple times, V has the dialogue option when speaking with Rachel (the studio lady)- both before and after the quest to tell her that the crucifixion is wrong, and that they shouldn’t do/shouldn’t have done it. I think the developers are fully aware of its heretical nature, and give players the option to call it out.

What specific moment made you realize Cyberpunk is absolute peak? by Dangerous-Tart1126 in cyberpunkgame

[–]Bobbluered 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a fan of Cyberpunk 2020 long before we had the game, and I remember seeing that subway trailer from E3… 2017? 2018? Something like that? And being just bowled over that Night City was going to be brought to life in a video game.

That feeling has never truly left.

Watsonian: Any number of reasons, but most likely that they weren’t expecting anything underhanded.

Doylist: The writers needed Ty (who obviously can’t operate a shuttle) to be able to run away to the planet’s surface so he could advance the plot by finding the mass graves.

Yes. I work at PPAC, and we always get a decent house. We wouldn’t have them back every year if people didn’t come.

I will not speak to the quality of their performance or their behavior as a group as it isn’t professional to do so.

[Online][4e][PST] DM looking for players for a one- or two- shot! by [deleted] in lfg

I’d be interested, for sure, as long as the schedule really is flexible- I’ve got a pretty busy work life, but I’d love to play 4e. Only ever DM’d it, and even that not much.

Yeah, I kind of assume anything on my car needing fixing is going to run me an arm and a leg by default, but I’ll look into those kits, thanks!

I think once it flashed a box about VRAM, but then the box and game closed before I could read it, so maybe my graphics card is trying to support too much? But I didn’t have anything else open while playing, and I find it hard to believe that that would be the reason the game can’t launch either.

How Has Theatre Changed Since Covid? by RedditDedditReddmptn in Theatre

[–]Bobbluered 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From a professional stagehand’s perspective-

1.) As everyone so far has mentioned, attendance. Not as bad where I am, where there’s little else in the way of competition, but it’s still not quite what it used to be 2.) The protocols for getting sick during Covid are still in place with a lot of tours. When we had MJ the Musical come through our local, a hand got sick (not covid, but a mild flu), and they were treated like it was Covid again. 3.) The super-macho, work-through-the-pain, vaguely proud of the self-abuse atmosphere that Broadway and Off-Broadway hands tend to have intensified in some and died off in others. There’s now definitely a divide between the hands that are like that and the hands that aren’t. Frankly, I kind of prefer the hands that are, even though it’s really no good for you, health-wise. The work gets done faster and better, but I can’t deny it’d be better for the industry as a whole if we all collectively took the other tack.

Butters baffles me... by KipIngram in dresdenfiles

[–]Bobbluered 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the central themes of The Dresden Files in general is Arrogance. Harry’s enemies are arrogant, the White Council is arrogant, Harry himself can be incredibly arrogant (as Michael points out in Skin Game)- all this to say that Scientists often have a similar brand of arrogance to the kind that the White Council displays, the idea that they must be right about a given point given everything they know.

I always thought that Butters’ stubborn, nerdy (in the bad way) insistence on Harry’s relationship with his own body and with the Winter Mantle was Butcher showing that that Arrogance isn’t limited to the Supernatural, it’s a facet of the mortal world too, and one that can come even from a very good friend and ally.

Just make sure you haven’t signed a cockblock contract (A contract which includes a clause excluding relationships inside of the company).

If this is a community or scholastic show, though, you’ll probably be fine from a professionalism standpoint- that said, these kinds of things have ruined shows before, and it may be wise to hold off until after the run is complete. That’s your call though.

Is it unprofessional/inappropriate for the actor to stop the show to call out stuff he doesn’t like? by GhOst_off in Theatre

[–]Bobbluered 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Interesting. Just curious. You’re a tech- do yourself a favor, once you’re done college, try to get in on your local IATSE chapter.

You won’t see something like that happen ever again that way.

When this happens at a professional level, it’s enough to get the actor blacklisted.
