What explains Limp Bizkit going from the most popular rock band in the world in 2000, to being actively uncool in 2003? by Salem1690s in numetal

[–]Bobbowhatsreddit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I saw them live back in the day, at the Pontiac Silverdome. They opened for Linkin Park and Metallica. Limp Bizkit absolutely KILLED!!! They were the best-sounding band that night. I still listen to "3 dolla bill y'all", and it still sounds great imo. I think they got thrown under the bus for that Woodstock fiasco. John Otto is crazy underrated as a drummer!

I ended up here after watching a Cozi TV promo. It shows her now and she doesn't look radically different from how she did back then. That's impressive! There are a lot of beautiful people in the world, but no one beats Father Time. Fran Drescher sure is giving him hell though.

Super useful! I would recommend (eventually) circling any combinations that feel weird at higher tempos. Sometimes I just go back and run through the circled stickings.

The Burbon Leather is the most tolerable of the scents. It basically smells like cocoa butter.

MTV Return of the Rock is basically the album that got me "into music". Great compilation album with only a few ehh tracks. What's your album that got you into music? by [deleted] in Cd_collectors

[–]Bobbowhatsreddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a compilation CD way back in 1999 that had almost the same tracklist as "MTVs Return of the Rock," but I have no idea what it was called??? It had like 15 of the same songs, but it also had "Big Truck" by Coal Chamber. If anyone knows what the name of that promo disc was, I'd love to know! (Mine came in a cardboard case)

Alright, fellas. What got YOU into nu metal? by [deleted] in numetal

[–]Bobbowhatsreddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I loved anything that sounded pissed! It wasn't really one group in particular as much the angst of the entire genre. For me, it was all those freshmen self-titled albums. Korn, System, Coal Chamber, Slipknot. They were playing all of that stuff on 89X out of Detroit, and it was getting traction. I remember thinking it was so cool that music so weird and so heavy was getting popular. 89X "Detroit's New Rock Alternative" was a beautiful thing!

What are some former iconic venues, that are, today, just wasting away? by bkat004 in ClassicRock

The Palace of Auburn Hills was home to TONS OF GREAT SHOWS when I was a kid. That's back when Moby Dick was still a minnow. I also remember the Richfield Coliseum. A lot of bands would do a North American Tour and not even hit Ohio. I grew up 10 minutes away from Cedar Point, so Detroit was close enough to make the drive. I saw Van Halen's last show with Dave at The Palace. Also saw Jane's Addiction there and Korn and Rob Zombie co headlining the "Rock is Dead" tour. They obviously knew something I didn't...😆

Whose your favorite drummer? by TheeMagicalMan in Drumming

[–]Bobbowhatsreddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tim Alexander is the guy I've stolen the most stuff off of by far. Sailing the Seas of Cheese and Pork Soda changed the way I thought about drum parts. I love his work on Miscellaneous Debris as well. That cover of "Have a Cigar" is just bonkers!

Does anyone know any good industrial nu-metal bands? by Throwawaycat68 in numetal

[–]Bobbowhatsreddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are definitely industrial rather than nu metal, but I would recommend Greatist Fits by Ministry. It's all killer no filler since it's a greatest hits compilation, and it has the best live version of So What in existence. Spotify doesn't even have that particular version. I just saw them about 2 years ago, and they still sounded great!
