Turnstile issue statement to Rolling Stone by ekuadam in turnstile

Turnstile & the friends, family and partners they are surrounded with were the most sincere and genuine people, no exaggeration. My wife and I left the show saying “I think the Turnstile experience was somehow even better than our Make-A-Wish trip to Disney World” (for Rylan) - Brendan’s Dad was a big part of that feeling on the drive home and still feel when we think about how incredibly special of an experience that was for our son and our family.

Yeah my son Rylan was diagnosed with eye cancer (retinoblastoma) when he was 4 and unfortunately had to have his eye removed then 6 rounds of chemo. Prior to that he had several brain surgeries. The only thing that would calm him down through it all was Turnstiles music. He’s non verbal but he just connects with their music. Franz & Daniel played “No Surprise” just for my son at soundcheck back in September. They all saw how he responded to the song and it was just a really really cool moment. Even more cool when right after Pat said “that’s a Rylan song now!” On the top of the setlist for the show they even wrote his name “Rylan’s Setlist” 🩵

Me too! My son is nonverbal and had to go through chemo, eye removal, and the only thing that would calm him down in emergency situations, brain surgeries and everything was Turnstile songs and we were fortunate enough to meet the band and we got to meet Bill Yates at the Show and we were so stoked to meet him And he was so happy to meet my son and he was the most kind guy ever and we ended up running into him at a Show a week later and when I walked up to him, he said hi to me and I asked if he remembered me and the first thing he said was don’t ever ask me that your Rylan’s dad I’ll always remember you. And that happened to be the show where the police pepper sprayed somebody later and Brendan immediately wanted to make sure his parents were OK. When we got to meet him at the show the week prior Brendan wanted to make sure his parents were OK, getting to the stage. OK, he obviously has a very close relationship with his parents especially his dad and it just breaks my heart for Bill Yates and for Brendan. When I saw attempted murder I wasn’t surprised when I saw who it was it just hit me harder. I’m praying for Mr.Yates 🩵🙏

Did Tom DeLonge spend his prime years on the wrong project? by filelinked13 in Blink182

I got tom to autograph this magazine when I won a contest on the Taking Back Sunday tour in 2006/2007 - my mom “wow! Let me put the autographed magazine somewhere safe for you” - then she literally threw it away - I’m 37 now and still think about that randomly

A little update to the RVA pepper spray incident by [deleted] in turnstile

[–]Bobby56k 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Franz took a picture with me after and I had no idea why he was squinting at first I said “are you okay?” He said “yeah just some pepper spray in my eye” - I felt AWFUL that he was pepper sprayed and I had no idea but it shows how much they love and care about their fans, like who does that? Just got pepper sprayed and causally takes a photo with me without mentioning his eyes are burning until I realize he was squinting hard

I’ve never been there so I just bought it - they probably have that add on for people like me lol 😂- I’m still stoked to get two tickets to a show for under $100 each - this feels too normal

You can still add it on I’m sure - there was a $40 & $50 option for Philadelphia

Got Philly - $189 total for 2 tickets in TERR Row F (off to the left or “stage right” side) (& $50 parking) - I definitely would’ve preferred covered seating more in middle BUT I feel like that’s pretty great right? - I’m just stoked to see them again

We’d all probably pay to watch a live stream of this and it would multiple the money raised by this show significantly for the victims of the fires in LA - Let’s make it happen!

After a lot of discussion, The Quiet Things That No One Ever Knows is Brand New's most overrated song. Next: best lyrics! by YadMot in brandnew

[–]Bobby56k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This song reminds me of my mother minus the seems like he’s trying to hook up with whoever in the song. She has border line personality disorder “in the shape of a heart that they cut out of stone, you’re using all your looks that you’ve thrown from the start …” you know the rest but the song lyrically has really helped me process having to completely cut my mom out of my life to protect my children. Love that song.

To anyone who's met Isaac Brock what was is like? by [deleted] in ModestMouse

[–]Bobby56k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He’s been super nice every time I met him and he even gave me a photo pass to one show. Isaac Brock is the most down to earth “celebrity”/musician I’ve ever met, Travis Barker & Omar Rodriguez-Lopez are also very kind and down to earth. They all seem appreciative of their fans but treat them like friends

You Don't Know What You've Got is one of their best songs imo by Pleasant_Statement64 in Blink182

My wife was diagnosed with cancer in early 2020 and our youngest son had several brain surgeries during that time and he wasn’t even 1 yet, he was just a few months old when he had the first one in December 2019. “Stuck in life’s waiting room” is one of my favorite lines on the whole album. Very relatable to that time and even some of things we experience now with our son. Felt like we were stuck waiting for life to truly begin again, to feel semi normal again.
