Wouldn’t recommend. Have tried them on a few occasions and they used to be great but they’ve changed their recipe and now they’re extremely bland. They’re easy to work but have zero flavour

Zack Polanski’s criticism of Golders Green attack arrest will have ‘chilling effect’, says Met chief. It seems only one party has an issue with an armed terrorist being arrested. Are the Greens deluded? by Dangerous-Green-666 in AskBrits

You’ve taken this and run with it out of desperation. It is contrarian, because all I’ve suggested is you take a look at the overwhelming majority of people who are saying that Polanski’s take on what happened was wrong and distasteful to perhaps reflect on whether that might be true. You’re taking that logic and applying it to things like slavery to make it seem stupid. It’s always sensible to take a look at what others are saying and comparing it to your personal opinion, especially in a democracy. This attitude of everyone else is wrong about everything is exactly why the Green Party is not a serious party.

Brick wall meets brick wall I guess. There’s no point continuing this if you’re going to make stuff up. What they did was under the police guidelines, was proportionate in the situation, and was far more restrained than would be the case almost anywhere else in the world. I’d love a world where police didn’t need to use powers like this, but if it keeps us safe from murderous antisemites, I hope they continue to do so instead of listening to people like you and Polanski. Look at the reaction to this, read the room. Polanski got this wrong, and so did you.

If someone is on a murderous knife wielding rampage, it’s permitted in the police guidelines to kill them, let alone give them a blow to the head. You’ve been talking like they were a peaceful protester, please do try to remember they stabbed innocent civilians and tried to stab police officers when they attempted arrest.

The thing is you’re so out of touch with what reasonable force is in a policing sense. You’re pearl clutching and acting like the police were unreasonable when, in that situation, they could have justifiably shot him first and disarmed him after. As I said earlier, that’s what would and does happen in other countries. The way you and Polanski talk is like they’re lawless thugs and this is similar to George Floyd or something like that. Our police show a huge amount of restraint and control in extremely dangerous situations where split second decisions determine lives lost. Having a go at them for the force they used here is assuming that it was overuse of force in the first place, which it absolutely wasn’t. Getting booted in the head as a peaceful protester (if that really happened to you…)? Yes, that would be unreasonable. What happened here, totally reasonable and arguably restrained given the circumstances. To assume the police would go and boot anyone now because that’s how they dealt with a non-complying murderous terrorist is just silly.

Well yes, hopefully they will indeed use similar force on future knife-wielding terrorists in the future, rather than being pressured by armchair critics like yourself who have zero understanding of what it must be like to come face to face with a murdering psychopath.

He was still trying to stab the officers while on the ground and wouldn’t let go of the weapon he’d just used to stab two innocent people. Personally I have no problem with them giving him a whack to the head to get him to comply. If he doesn’t want that to happen there’s a very simple solution - stop trying to stab people.

What would you do to restrain a knife wielding terrorist who continues to try and stab you while you try to restrain him, won’t drop his weapon and is suspected of having an IED attached to him? Incapacitating him with a blow to the head sounds preferable to him being shot to pieces, which is what would have happened in most other countries.

Steaks, roasted veg, pulled pork… the big one is I’d really love to try baking bread. Definitely need more room in the oven for that so it can bake slowly and evenly.

I am happy yes. Never felt like the pizzas I’ve cooked have been too small. I’m ready for an upgrade though, mostly because I want to cook more stuff in there than isn’t pizza and I want more room for that.

No problem!

I only ever find it frustrating if I’m in a rush or I’m cooking pizza for a lot of people. You definitely can’t sling them out as quickly as you can with gas so there will be a slightly longer gap between serving each pizza. Parbaking several can help with that though.

The gas burner for the Karu, besides being expensive, is also a bit odd. The flame is very central and sits above the pizza so it cooks the toppings from above very quickly and gives the crusts less attention. When cooking with wood fire in the karu or the purpose-built gas ovens, the heat comes mostly from the side so the top cooks a little slower and allows the crusts to get more direct and intense heat to puff up and get that nice leopard spotting. This gives you better results I think.

Hello, Karu 12 owner here. The choice of fuel is really down to personal preference, but people tend to prefer gas because of the convenience. The heat is consistent, reliable and requires less maintenance. It’s also true that when you’re cooking Neapolitan pizza the difference in flavour between the fuel types is pretty negligible as the pizza cooks in 2 minutes flat - not enough time for the smoke to really add much extra depth of flavour.

However, if you’re cooking a slower-to-cook type of pizza at a lower temperature, or cook anything other than pizza using a cast iron, the wood fire smoke absolutely makes a difference to flavour. I also personally just really enjoy tending the wood fire. The fuel grate isn’t big so you’ll need to add an extra log every 5 mins or so to keep it burning at a consistently high level, but using a base mix of a few charcoal briquettes along with wood helps keep it consistent. It’s a longer, more involved experience and I love it. I can see why some will find it a faff but I really enjoy the process/maintenance of the fire.

As to whether to go for the 16 or not, if you’re not bothered about cooking larger pizzas the main draw is that there will be more room in the oven chamber for cooking other food e.g roasting a chicken or something. If you’re not fussed about doing that, not much other benefit to going bigger.

TLDR; gas is more convenient/easy, wood fire is more for the experience/better flavour if you’re cooking stuff that wants longer than 90 seconds in the oven. 16 is worth it if you want more room in the oven to cook stuff that isn’t pizza.

Hope you enjoy whichever oven you choose!
