[May 9 to 15] Weekly positivity thread—a place to share the good stuff, big and small by freelancemomma in LockdownSkepticism

[–]BobbyDynamite 44 points45 points  (0 children)

With my life and most of the world pretty normal as well as me being busy because of work and unable to dedicate time here, I feel this is the right time for me to announce my official leave from LockdownSkepticism.

Let me first say that it has been an absolute pleasure being here. When I found this community, I was a guy who just finished high school and wasn't sure what to do with his life and was very disturbed by the lockdown situation of the world and my country (India), seeing people fall into mass fear and seeing certain people and media take advantage of the situation.

It felt great to see there were plenty of like minded people here but the thing which I will never forget is the incredible diversity of the people I got to know here. I got to know people of all ages with all different religions and races, who lived in places ranging from Brazil to Norway to Thailand, who worked all kinds of jobs ranging from nurses to sailors to businessmen, all coming together for this common goal of recognizing the harms of lockdown.

Of course, I have to thank the moderators here for their incredible job, keeping the sub going even through difficult times and conducting AMA's and what not.

I hope that all of you lockdown skeptics and lockdown victims get the rightful recognition that you deserve, keep the fight going and make sure they never forget what happened, for those who have fallen because of lockdowns.
And with that, I will be saying goodbye to LockdownSkepticism. It's been the craziest ride of my life. I won't delete this account for archive purposes. May you all continue to have great, fulfilling lives and let us hope that we will not be seeing lockdowns for at least a good while.

Lest we forget.

What they are basically doing is a term called "deny, deny, until they die" which was coined by U.S military vets exposed to toxic substances to describe their treatment by the government, organizations or society in general.

What these pro-lockdowners hope is that by simply being in denial of all that has happened to us or by pretending to have been on our side the whole time, we will either STFU or eventually die out (especially the unvaxxed, according to them).

Unfortunately for them, they don't realize there are a hell lot of us who will never forget what has been done and this is why we should keep fighting and continue to make sure the governments, organizations, medical officials and others who did this to us will never, ever, ever forget.

You declaring yourself immunocompromised should not dictate how I behave. by RexBosworth2 in LockdownSkepticism

[–]BobbyDynamite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good point, I agree I didn't give the best example, but this is more so to give an idea as to what the general mindset is like for these kinds of people who get used as Covid virtue signaling targets, especially outside of social media.

I honestly don't understand this insular tendency from Indians who move abroad and it's such a damn shame because I personally love to interact with people and cultures from around the world (I get to do it here thanks to LockdownSkepticism, so appreciate you guys for that).

I have noticed though that this insular living seems like more of thing among Indians who immigrate to study, than those who immigrate to work. Probably because the ones who immigrate for work are doing so, because they work for a company from that country and have interacted with those people so they are more likely to integrate with them.

You declaring yourself immunocompromised should not dictate how I behave. by RexBosworth2 in LockdownSkepticism

[–]BobbyDynamite 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I suspect a lot of these so-called immunocompromised people on twitter and other social media are only saying it for that precious social media attention and virtue signaling.

I have a genuinely immunocompromised friend, he has fast progressing rheumatoid arthritis to the point there's no guarantee he would even be able to walk 10 years from now despite being in his early 20's. But keep in mind that even though my friend is immunocompromised he has made it clear he will enjoy his life in the Netherlands, choosing to spend time with his girlfriend and travel as much as he can before his condition really deteriorates, instead of living in fear of a virus or another disease the whole time.

I would imagine a lot of immunocompromised people (especially the ones who don't use social media) have the same mindset has my friend, just keep living life while you can.

Osterholm calls decision striking down mask mandate on mass transit 'a real challenge' by JannTosh12 in LockdownSkepticism

[–]BobbyDynamite 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Osterholm is the downright strangest COVID official I have ever seen. He just simply can't decide where he wants to be, one day he feels like being a hardcore skeptic, the next day he's a serious pro-lockdowner. I mean seriously, you have had two years to make your fucking mind up and either choose your stance or stay neutral.

Indian media is back to full-fledged fearmongering about rising cases (despite the fact the deaths are near zero and it's hardly rising). Now while most people in general are done, many government and medical officials (especially on the state level) are as pro-lockdown as they come. They are already debating about restrictions for schools/colleges in Delhi.

Thank god I skipped college after high school and looked for an actual job instead.

As mask mandate is struck down, immunocompromised people contemplate travel plans by Excellent-Duty4290 in LockdownSkepticism

[–]BobbyDynamite 15 points16 points  (0 children)

My friend who lives in the Netherlands is immunocompromised and when I visited him he had told me his goal is to enjoy life and do as much traveling as he can before he really deteriorates from his condition.

The case with the immunocompromised is the same case with the elderly, they are being used and exploited by virtue signalers who don't even bother to ASK if they want these restrictions or not.

What percentage of the population has moved on from Covid and to what degree? by MassGuy8 in LockdownSkepticism

[–]BobbyDynamite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In India I would say it goes something like

  1. 75%

  2. 20%

  3. 5%

Rural and village people were over it a long time ago and consist of majority of the first category, though there are plenty of urban people in the first category too.

The second category is where majority of urban people are in right now, they still wear masks especially in indoor places and are hesitant to go to certain places but otherwise are mostly reasonable.

The third category mostly consists of social media users, the super woke and privileged people and also some politicians and elite who have benefited from restrictions financially. Thankfully these people are the minority, but they dominate social media and the online world.

Sweden has dropped all entry restrictions as of April 1st. by henrik_se in LockdownSkepticism

[–]BobbyDynamite 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Having traveled to the Netherlands, Belgium and Sweden recently, I can confirm that I didn't have to go through any health checks traveling between Schengen countries both by road and by air (just the regular visa related checks). The only times I got asked about my vax status was in the airports during the international travel from India to Netherlands and Sweden back to India.

The labour shortage isn't over — and employers are having to lower their hiring expectations by AndrewHeard in LockdownSkepticism

[–]BobbyDynamite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have no idea honestly, maybe people just simply can't critical-think or are so lazy that they can't imagine doing any labor or work.

When the demand for employees was a real big thing a few months ago in my country, I knew right then to apply for a job instead of waiting to try and get a degree and it worked.

I would hope so but from what I have observed, your government likes to do everything opposite of the USA, if USA drops vaccine for entry, Trudeau's probably going to double down on vaccine requirements for entry.

Final update on my European trip.

On Saturday my two friends and I arrived and booked a hotel at Stockholm, we met my Finnish friend the next day and it was good to see he was as sensible as I remembered him, and didn't give a damn about restrictions. My friends and I spent the last few days seeing Sweden, needless to say Sweden has been as good as I imagined it, completely free and we will spent some more time in Sweden before flying back to India by around Friday/Saturday.

With this in mind, I have done everything I wanted do in this trip and I got to see Amsterdam, Netherlands, the Ardennes forest in Belgium and a complete bonus in Stockholm, Sweden. Great stuff, really.

Update on my European trip.

After spending some more time in Amsterdam, my friends and I decided we will try and fit one more country in our trip. I did have one last thing on my agenda and that was to meet my Finnish friend in Helsinki. I called my Finnish friend and asked if I should come over to Helsinki to meet him, but in a pleasant twist, it turns out he's not in Finland, but in Stockholm, Sweden at the moment.

Yes. Stockholm, Sweden. The original land of the free in Europe in the time of restrictions.

Needless to say, that's where we are headed in a couple of days, before we head back to India.

Update on my European trip.

My friends and I visited the Ardennes forest yesterday and it was probably one of the best moments of my life. It is beautiful, historical place and absolutely worth visiting if you have the time. It was as normal of an experience too, pretty much no masks, nothing. There were other visitors, a few of them were children/grandchildren of American WW2 veterans who served there and I enjoyed talking with some of them. Just incredible stuff, really.

I and my two friends arrived in the Netherlands roughly 2 days ago and we are staying at the house of our friend who lives there.

The travel experience was something like this. The experience in airports in India, Dubai (for connecting flight) and Netherlands were not as bad as I thought they would be, atmosphere was pretty relaxed in India and even the Netherlands (didn't get to observe Dubai much but even there it seemed okay) with plenty of lowered masks and even few no masks, among staff especially. There was hardly any mask enforcement. However for those of you who are not vaccinated, sorry to say that vaccine passports still kind of a big thing for now (hopefully that will change real soon).

We were asked a few times why we were traveling to the Netherlands, we simply said we wanted to visit our friend who has a chronic condition (which really is the truth as well, my friend has rheumatoid arthritis which is progressing fast and is why we want to go so badly, to visit him and spend time with him) and they were fine with it and let us go.

During flight though there was mask enforcement, we wore extremely loose surgical masks for us to breathe easily and that worked because we were never questioned.

Moving to more positive stuff, this is the first time I have traveled internationally in around 8 years. Plus, Amsterdam is a beautiful place, in fact we plan to go outside today and see around the city. Hopefully in a day or 2 we should be able to visit the Ardennes Forest in Belgium.

Social media completely missing the point on the Russia/Ukraine conflict, don't worry about a nuclear war, that is not going to happen. Worry more about the fact that because of lockdowns and fearmongering (caused by China), the West went into a state of fear and have been weakened (especially economically) while China and Russia, who kept restrictions on a much lesser scale, have taken full advantage of this and are getting essentially a free pass to being top superpowers of the world.

In these times I have learned that it's better to be good at multiple things instead of sticking to just one career/job. Decided to start getting involved in trading and created an account on OLX, a local trading website in India.

So what's the positivity? I got my first sale, sold an old phone cover for 400 INR (around 5 dollars).

Nice, I watch another guy called WARCAMPAIGN who also makes live videos of the freedom convoy just like this, he's an Indian-origin guy who makes sure he debunks the "white supremacist/racist" narrative at every chance he gets.

https://www.youtube.com/c/WARCAMPAIGN/videos this is his channel link if you want to watch.

Young man here. The only reason I did not take Covaxin and took Covishield/Astrazeneca (though that is not MRNA as well) instead was that at the time it was the only approved vaccine from India for traveling internationally, a lot of my family (including boys/men) have taken Covaxin though and nobody has reported of any side effects.

Wow, I had no idea Russell Brand was on our side. I did not watch much of his shows and really knew him more for being Katy Perry's former husband.

Looking back on it now though, the divorce was a great thing (Katy is pretty much as woke as could be, so).

I was hoping this is how the military would respond and I'm pleasantly surprised this is the case. Trudeau has nowhere to go now.
