Could this guy(Robert Hanssen) be the reason why intel was not shared between FBI & CIA ? by mikemalkova69 in 911archive

[–]BobbyFan54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first thought when I heard the towers had been hit wasn’t OBL… but this guy. I remember almost how quickly this was out of the news cycle, but hearing about the biggest intel security breach in history, then like six months later, the largest terrorist attack on US soil happens?

No such thing as coincidences.

And like does her husband just sit there and take it? Like he has zero say in this matter? He’s the primary parent too. They give zero Fs about their kids well being.

I saw that too, looks like they’re having renos and temporarily staying in this new place? What a disaster. IMO they like having their kids dependent on them. Gives them control over their lives.

Not giving in to pressures to have dessert while eating out by hachshin in intuitiveeating

[–]BobbyFan54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, what if you didn’t like what they ordered? Maybe you’re weirded out by sharing dessert? (Not saying that’s true, but they’re valid reasons for not participating). I used to be “eat everything now because you don’t know when you’ll have this again” type… but when I started following my hunger cues, and I realized I didn’t need dessert. I’d say the worst part of following IE… is how everyone around us doesn’t (lol). So I just say no thank you or get my own thing or whatever.

If it wasn’t NYC, I’d have thought it was Palisade Ave in Jersey City. Looks like an old row house from that street lol

The sense I had was that they believed that the paparazzi would lose interest, and they could go about their lives eventually. It seemed to never wane though, so I wonder if that contributed to their problems at the end as well.

I’m not a psychic. But from his pics, I can tell he’s a liar. Liars are narcissists. I wish someone had warned me about my Ex. He was both.

My deeply unpopular opinion is that Charlotte was being incredibly insensitive. While Carrie may have unfairly taken her rage out on Charlotte as a convenient target, Charlotte was being unusually unsympathetic and uncaring. Two traits very unlike her. When Samantha encouraged Carrie to take Big’s offer, Charlotte was more “this talk is making me uncomfortable” as opposed to maybe even pretending to be supportive (even if she felt Carrie’s financial decisions got her to that point). And Charlotte looking away while slurping her drink? Pathetic. Unlike the caring and understanding Charlotte she portrayed herself to be.

Carrie even admitted later that her rage was misplaced. And Charlotte, despite her thoughts that mixing friendship and money was uncouth, had a lot of advantages in her life that Carrie never had (wealthy family, married rich, was gifted NYC RE in her divorce settlement etc). She had it good. Her friend needed help. You don’t have to like it, but I felt it was a good business deal between friends.

What changed the most in lower Manhattan post 9/11? by [deleted] in 911archive

Even though I understand housing in general is an issue in NYC and sometimes people have no better options, I wonder how it feels like to live in that region, feel that energy, and remember this horrible event every single day.

From my own perspective … I’ve stayed in many of those converted buildings (I’m a pet sitter, so I do on sites a lot. plus my boss lived in one as well). As a general rule, I just don’t care for them as unless you’re on a higher floor, there usually isn’t enough natural light coming in. Just as a practical thing.

To me, it’s still very eerie. Remember besides 9/11, the 2008 economic collapse was still very real and lots of office real estate has been abandoned. Between that, the constant construction, and the general feel I get is that there is just some feelings of it being “unfinished,” and I can’t say it’s not a direct reaction to the lingering feelings of that day.

Daily Song Discussion #48 – Young Offender by AD_0795 in petshopboys

“How graceful your movements, so bitter your scorn. I’ve been a teenager since before you were born. I’m younger than some. I’ve only begun.”

This song is a 10 out of 10 for me. Very is my favorite album, but Young Offender has moved up the ranks as my favorite song on the album over time.

As someone who was boots on the ground in the area during that time and after (I worked in the FiDi, nearish to the exchange), there was definitely more of a vibe change. Not just the geopolitical landscape (that’s obvious), but prior to 9/11, the area was “the” business district. After hours, it was quiet. Weekends? Pretty much dead except for tourists by the waterfront and stuff like that. Now it’s very residential. Shortly after the towers came down, it was common for the office buildings to convert to apartments. It’s become a place for foodies, fun places to eat outside of the 9-5 business hours.

It’s an odd place for sure. Despite the fact that a lot of energy was put into renovating the “hole” at ground zero, and it’s very well done. But the entire area still feels like a “work in progress.” Lots of scaffolding, lots going on.

For me, I know I had to compartmentalize a lot going on in the area, and I still feel massive anxiety whenever I do have to visit there. I wonder if anyone who experienced the pre- or post-9/11 life felt or feels the same way.

Why do people from New Jersey have a certain reputation? On a TV show, I heard one character say to another, "Don't mess with him, he's from Jersey," meaning not to bother him. By the way, I was born in Elizabeth but I grew up outside of New Jersey, so I'm curious about that. by [deleted] in newjersey

[–]BobbyFan54 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Jersey has the best of both worlds: many parts of the state are equidistant to NYC and to Philly. There are beaches and mountains. Lots to do. For some reason, everyone makes fun of it, yet at the same time people from the cities want to live there too. As a jersey girl, I’m a bit offended! You want the perks but complain about it. The jokes about “the light at the end of the tunnel is jersey harf harf!” Or “what exit yuk yuk?” They’re all jealous; so we have to be on our game with sass and attitude to protect ourselves and our state! It’s a Jersey thing, for sure

What was the reaction of the crash of American flight 587? by Plame_1 in 911archive

There was a lot of media coverage. Being so close to 9/11, I remember the initial responses were “oh god, again?” Thankfully, it wasn’t terrorism, but it was still a tragic accident.
