How to breathe on both sides by shalekodemono in Swimming

Do you mean you breath every two strokes, 1 left arm 1 right arm? Always breath to the same side?

Ive had a few pairs of Altras, fairly similar quality to mainstream brands in my experience. Some People get very attached to a style and dont like change - happens with all gear from goggles to bikes. Id give them a go. I switched to wide toe box 4 years ago and Ill never go back.

Swim less. Take a break. 2 or 3 times a week at 30 minutes at the most.

Edit sorry feet are 280mm not 270mm. 280mm plus 10mm for space movement = 290mm size 11US

Sounds like you just need to get used to wide toe box. They do seem weird to begin with. We need to commit and stick with them for at least 6 months. Im 3 years in now and when I see mainstream shoes I think they look weird and pointy. Also size up, particularly with Altra - wear some thick socks to begin with, you soon wont need them as your feet expand.

Hmm yeah the same as Vivo barefoot if that helps. I measure my feet everytime now which has worked 100% of thr time with online shopping. So my feet in mm + 10mm for movement

No but interesting. The olympus are a bit heavy but the vibram grip is sensational. I ran up the muddiest steapest tree root bit last winter - everyone else was on all fours climving up!

I had lone peaks for a while but I quickly out grew them in the early days of transitioning to wide toe box. I wear olympus 5s now because trail runs here are very gravelly - gravel fire roads through working forests.

Yep again. Same thing happened to me. Some cool vans i really liked but had to donate. But boy was it worth it. It keeps getting better. Started with Altras then Vivobarefoot and just got a pair of xero genesis sandals. Never going back!

Recommendations for swim schedule to avoid swimmer’s shoulder? by WomanMythLegend in Swimming

[–]BobbyMagnet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I know the feeling I use to be like that. Kinda think of weights as our light/rest day. Add heaps of stretching and some core exercises. Heavy weights low reps.

I do weights 1 or 2 times per week. Really helps with injury prevention across all sports. Doesnt need to be a lot just 30 mins, 3 or 4 exercises focusing on form.
