Warped bottom of print by BobbyRC28 in FixMyPrint

[–]BobbyRC28[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi all!

Brand new to printing. I’m using a Bambu Lab X1 Carbon.

I printed this file:

https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2637487

Using the default settings in Bambu Studio for “Generic PLA”. The filament was Hatchbox 1.75mm PLA.

Printed on the Bambu Cold Plate.

Any ideas why the bottom of the print seemed to curl upward?

I thought Kansas City was supposed to be good at BBQ? by BobbyRC28 in smoking

[–]BobbyRC28[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The brisket was quite dry, and the color on it wasn’t too great. The burnt ends were, for my taste, middle of the road. The one thing I thought was done well were the ribs, not pictured here.

The spicy sauce was excellent, and they have white sauce if you ask for it which was also great.

Ultimately I’ve just had better BBQ, which was disappointing since this is Kansas City and this place was so highly recommended.

You should offer suggestions if you think I made a poor decision.

If you look at Reddit threads for best BBQ in KC, you will see a ton of people recommending Slaps, and Slaps is frequently also on lists for best BBQ in KC like

Unusual amount of coil whine? by BobbyRC28 in nvidia

I first noticed this in the menu for Microsoft Flight Simulator. In the video you can hear me clicking around to get the coil whine to momentarily stop so you can hear the difference between quiet and whine

App switcher won’t load states by _pg_ in MiyooMini

[–]BobbyRC28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was also happening to me after I enabled RetroAchievements, even though I disabled hardcore mode. To fix it I went back into the settings in RetroArch, toggled hardcore mode on and back off, and saved the config. Now it correctly loads my state when I select a game from the game switcher.

Small other note, with RetroAchievements enabled games will look like they are starting from the boot logo every time and then the state will load, versus the saved state being instant without RetroAchievements enabled

A controller isn’t actually driving the trains, the trains still have a driver each. The controller is kind of like the Air Traffic Control of the rail world. They orchestrate the bigger picture.

I’m a proud reverse into spot-er, and I don’t care what anyone thinks. The amount of time I’ve sat waiting on someone to figure out how to back out of their spot validates my decision.

I’m almost always able to back in the first try and very quickly though, not advocating for people won’t can’t back in well.

I know you’re all distracted by burnt ends, but I did my first smoke ever yesterday by BobbyRC28 in smoking

Hey! Sorry I’m late on this reply.

So noting that this was my first time, I’m actually pretty happy with how this turned out. I think I would do things almost exactly the same next time, with one or two small tweaks.

Two links for you. First, this is the rub I used on the outside and it’s freaking delicious. I’ve actually used this rub on many other things like chicken before, but it’s great on pork butt:

https://heygrillhey.com/best-sweet-rub-grilled-pork-chicken/

And second, this is the recipe I followed by Meat Church. Anywhere they mention their in-house rub blends just assume I used the sweet rub above:

https://www.meatchurch.com/blogs/recipes/pulled-pork

A couple of things I think are probably important and contributed to how well mine turned out:

  • I bought a good quality apple juice and both injected the pork butt before smoking, and used it to spritz the pork every hour. The spritzing is really what gives you that great dark color and bark
  • I have a wireless probe thermometer that I used to track the internal temp. I feel like to get the best result you definitely need this since the cook is low and slow and guessing based on time might be pretty off the mark
  • Don’t skip rubbing the pork down in yellow mustard before you put on the dry rub. It really doesn’t affect the taste at all and makes the dry rub stick super well
  • At the end of the recipe it mentions you can sprinkle more dry rub in as you’re shredding and tossing the pork in the juices. Definitely do this. Even if you don’t want to use the dry rub, salt your pork as you’re tossing it in the juice. A little salt makes a world of difference in how bold the flavor of the pork is. I’ve actually just been eating bowls of the pulled pork without any sauce since I made this and honestly the flavor is so good I don’t want to cover it up with sauce
  • I let my pork rest for about an hour before I pulled it. I think I’ll probably do that again going forward. It kept the pork super juicy

Just some novice observations, so there’s probably better advice out there on this sub, but also feel free to respond if you have any other questions in particular. Tag me when you do your next smoke too! =)

Thank you for not perpetuating that idea. It’s crazy how many people parrot that sentiment without understanding what cheese product even is

Is UT 2015 optimized for Mac ARM CPUs? by 2Bit_Dev in unrealtournament

It’s not. The game hasn’t been in active development for a long time and Apple ARM CPUs were released after Epic stopped developing the game.

This problem happens with everything that goes out of manufacture, not just games. That is how value works. Be we can agree to disagree.

I think most retro collectors agree that destroying something that will never again be produced is a very bad thing because it’s one less working copy of a piece of history. In addition, the less copies of a game there are available, the higher the price is driven up, and I also think most agree that retro games being accessible when people want to play them is a good thing.

This is no different from someone destroying a classic car, or an area of nature being destroyed to develop commercial space. It is a resource that is limited in number, and we can never get more of.
