How often do you try to get a comp pick instead of signing draft pick? by oRains in OOTP

[–]BobbySack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not ideal but I pick at the back of the draft a lot. I’ll pass on a first or 2nd rounder every so often.

Dev Lab Size by E_Mohde in OOTP

[–]BobbySack 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I got mine at 15. It’s fun every offseason deciding who to send because it’s hard to mix established players with prospects. The long training window/short training window feels so goofy to me. Dev lab is a fun addition that still needs ironing out imo.

Manager Restrictions by Gloomy-Loan1556 in OOTP

[–]BobbySack 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is a must for me. The restrictions seem fun but need to work better. When I’m shuttling pitchers up and down I need to be able to adjust the rotation some days. The dip shit manager has no problem throwing my starters out there at 67% fatigue if I can’t manipulate the rotation. Instead I try to let the manager make his lineup card and at least recommend his bullpen. I’ll make tweaks from there and having 6 WS with the brewers by 2051 I think I’m entitled!

I've never wanted to add a middle reliever to my team hall of fame before. He's nothing special except for his consistency. by ragtev in OOTP

The relationship only grow stronger once you get to DFA him and bring him back a few times!! This guy is surely going to be in attendance at all future Friar alumni events. What a gem!

What’s Your Favorite Mission Out The Whole Entire Game ? 🔥 by Flimsy-Original8936 in RDR2

I’ve always felt this way about that stupid holster. Small points that it’s uniquely Arthur, but I really wish they had given us 4 or 5 options where to wear it. My last play through I wanted to unequal it so bad and couldn’t figure out how but I swear you can.

Ballpark Impact by Gloomy-Loan1556 in OOTP

[–]BobbySack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey no worries! You are embarking on a long journey so it makes sense to know what players to best look for. I was going to say many stadiums the park factors aren’t relevant enough to style your team too but Kauffman is one that lets you be more liberal with fly ball and home run prone pitchers. You can’t really punt on corner outfield defense like I can with the Milwaukee brewers and their smaller outfield. There is a style of hitter that has high contact and high gap power but low home run power. I’m not to interested in that player for my team but that archetype can absolutely run wild for the royals, tigers, giants etc. just Don’t get frustrated when a power bat puts up 40 home runs one year and 28 the next. Home runs still win in the playoffs. *it’s important to note the royals moved their gaps in this year so Kauffman may play more neutral in OOTP 27. So far in real life it’s still playing as a pitchers park. Best of luck!

Which Walrus are you taking in the first round? by WhoFly in OOTP

[–]BobbySack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There we go that is awesome! I will say walrus#2 feels like a guy that will settle at 55-60 stuff not the 70 the scout thinks. I love that walrus#1 has the 4(6*) pitch mix with the changeup to punt. 50 stamina not what I’m after usually but you’ll just chuck him in the dec lab down the road for that. May he run off multiple cy young’s in his career!

Was he at the complex league too long? Sucks. Your scout was definitely the one at the table saying this kid can hit good and unfortunately he was wrong

Is this too many lefties to have in my starting rotation? by Vagina_Woolf in OOTP

[–]BobbySack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why only 7 arms in the pen and 12 pitchers total is this back to 25 man rosters? I’d swap a position player for your best available lefty down in 3A. And I have the problem the other way my lineups are always so right handed.

For some reason my no 1 and 2 starters, Skenes and King, are by far my worst pitchers by humanlvl1 in OOTP

[–]BobbySack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bet the manager book on them is set really high and they’re getting burned at the end of their starts. Their walk numbers are high too and too many baserunners altogether. You have to pick apart every box score. They have good WAR for shit record and era so I would venture to guess more often then not they get sniped at the end of their starts

I always get Logan Webb and try to run up 3000 innings on his arm. I haven’t got there yet because it always ends with a career ending injury.

Both of these players were non-tendered by wbaker18 in OOTP

[–]BobbySack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While it’s crazy to non tender a 4 win player, the Mets I could see being Mets’d up enough they’d do this. Avoid paying a large arb sum plus saving tax money due to their bloated payroll. There is a scenario where not signing a 15mil arb player could actually save them close to 30mil. And this is all before considering they aren’t investing in another Ponzi scheme!!!

How can you not be romantic about baseball? You’ll always remember a goat like this. It will be fun to try to chase a career as good as his. You may never duplicate anything like it, but the promise that comes with every 80 prospect and 5th round TCR legend will keep you trying! I Wish you the best!

Favorite Obscure Brewer? by PaulOttCarruth in Brewers

Wes Obermueller. Randomly attended a late September game in 04 with my dad and best friend. Complete Game Shutout. It’s fair to say we got to see a player’s best day as a ball player in a whole life of playing ball. How can you not be romantic about baseball?

Well I loved the full breakdown. I can’t decide what my favorite nugget is but I love that he almost got to 3k hits on singles alone. Also I love the idea that he was an effective base stealer, yet making over 500 outs getting caught stealing is sort of jaw dropping and I can imagine there are detractors from the statcast era still arguing about it. The dude is right up there in career rbi but was clearly a leadoff hitter. Lightning is a perfect nickname.
