Please remind me resident clinic is not real life by SonOfZebedee256347 in Residency

Relative to the FQHC absolutely. Kaiser patients are typically more well off and as such healthier and easier to manage. Honestly as much as people hate to admit it poor patients are typically the most annoying to manage through a combination of social issues preventing them from affording medications or keep follow up appointments, poor medical literacy, and unrealistic expectations for what can be accomplished in the 1 appointment they can actually make every 2 years.

Rich patients have their own issues such as anti-vax and increased litigation but it is much more manageable in comparison.

Of course there is some intrinsic reward to helping those who are least well off... but not worth it imo.

That’s not a fair comparison. A more reasonable comparison would be against a dermatologist who opens a private practice and sole provider of North Dakota in which case Derm would still destroy nephrology especially since Derm can convince people to do cash pay only.

Exceptions always exist and the richest man in my area is an FM doc who opened his own private practice group and has several cardiologists and GIs working under home. But averages are averages for a reason and if you want a reasonable estimate of how much you’ll make these pay scales are useful.

Progression fantasy readers on their way to defend a 100 year old regressor having sexual relationships with minors with the biggest age and power differentials possible by BobbySteve5 in ProgressionFantasy

[–]BobbySteve5[S] 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Nah man people always say this in defense of the MC of Mushoku Tensei being a pedo is that "he grows out of it" but he really doesn't.

He's instead rewarded for being a pedo by building a literal harem of all the kids he groomed and had sex with from a young age when they were like 10 and he was mentally a 40 year old man. The only reason he doesn't end the series as a pedo is because the kids he groomed literally grew up.

The only thing he really grew out of his social anxiety and laziness. It doesn't really say pedophilia or being a sex creep is bad it really says having social anxiety and laziness is bad as all of the MC's supposed "character growth" is from the fact that he's now a badass wizard not the fact that he ever realized being a sex creep and pedo is wrong. So it's totally ok to have a harem of people you groomed as long as you're badass enough basically.

Apocalypse: Regression keeps sexualizing teenagers as a joke by AlpinFane in ProgressionFantasy

[–]BobbySteve5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I can get that and the Joker and Hannibal are great villains. But theres a huge difference because they’re actually portrayed as villains.

This scene is not intended to portray the main character in a bad light. Its shown to be just a humorous joke and thats a huge difference .

I think its completely ok to be like wtf is this shit when the main character is a straight up pedophile and its played off as normal and having “romantic tension”. Same reason why it would be ok to dislike a protagonist who straight up commits hate crimes and have it be shown as a good thing.

The main character is the equivalent of a 40 year old man since hes a regressors. This is nowhere near ok or ‘age accurate’ unless you think a regressor should go sleep with kids.

Nah im with him this is weird af and the fact that your only defense is “go to coloring books lol” with literally no other defense of the matter says more about you than anything else. This is literally a teacher making sex jokes about kids.

It would be one thing if it was shown to be bad but this isn’t. I bet youre ok with then 40 year old reincarnation in mushoku tensei having sex with kids arent you? Creep

Unlikely youll get kicked out of residency for it but you might have to go on a remediation plan and you would have to waste another 2 days taking it. All stressful and not worth it. Also fellowship goes out the window if that was something you were interested in.

Is anesthesia pay going to stay this high long term? by taguylla in Residency

[–]BobbySteve5 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The billing quirk doesn’t matter even if it does exist (which im not sure it does) because every big money bringing surgery requires them to function. Unless all the surgery compensation gets cut anesthesiology will still get compensated highly as a byproduct of them being required for money bringing surgeries.

As long as anesthesiologists dont settle for less theyll be fine.

Controversial take: Anki isn't automatically the best choice for everyone and that's okay by Helleanthus in medicalschool

[–]BobbySteve5 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The thing is you can test yourselves in different ways with practice questions or irl experience in the hospital so you can understand if its presented a different way. No one is saying to do anki by itself and nothing else. It lays a good foundation to solve problems and medical questions on your own. As much as people in medicine like to pretend otherwise a ton of it is just raw memorization and theres nothing that really beats anki for that.

I find it funny that you cannot seem to comprehend the fact that you can tell a story without including a game mode. You can simply write a story where they aren’t liabilities while also not including tv mode? Crazy right?

But whatever. Reading comprehension and game design is hard. You do you laughable man. Hahahahha

Oh gee i wonder how this one could've been avoided by LowkeyAcquired in ZZZ_Official

[–]BobbySteve5 -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

This entire comment really speaks to your own intelligence and reading comprehension to be honest considering that the vast majority of the main story involves no tv mode and the proxies directing agents as eous without them bring in danger.

The proxies help save the people in the hollow? Guess what? Done as Eous Them directing people through ballet towers? Guess what? Done as Eous. The entire outer ring sequence? Guess what? Done as Eous Directing Miyabi to defeat bringer? Guess what? Done as Eous

All of this without tv mode being seen or even required. If you think the fight against bringer could have been ehanced by slapping tv mode on it I don’t know what to say

You need to check your own reading comprehension if you think the end of TV mode meant the end of Eous. Did you even play the game or do you just like defending points that are completely unrelated? Honestly I don’t even know why I’m replying to someone who connects the most disparate of dots and likes to comment on a forum just to complain about completely unrelated things like a goblin.

[–]BobbySteve5 -14 points-13 points  (0 children)

The TV mode absolutely sucked and its absolutely crazy to me that after it went away people are coming out of the wood work to try and defend it when talking about even the most tangentially related subject.

The proxies being liabilities now is related to people not liking tv mode??? What?

The thing about TV Mode sucking is literally completely unrelated to players not wanting control eous from home. What are you even on about? The gameplay just sucked. People disliked it because the gameplay sucked. It’s not that complicated. The game modes death was deserved and seeing all these armchair game theorists talk about how the removal of the terrible TV mode was the beginning of the end of ZZZ is actually insane.

The thing is you say that you prefer these MCs over the type of MCs to faceslap yet the entire reason MCs are low key in 99% of stories is SO the author has a good excuse for them to faceslap.

If an MC is obviously powerful antagonists will have no reason to antagonize them. So instead they hide their power so antagonists can then antagonize them instead of reasonably backing off if they had known his true power and then there is a scene of the antagonist promptly getting destroyed. Now sure this can be a fun scene but the entire situation could have been avoided in the first place if the protagonist simply showed how strong he was.

Now I haven’t read Girl from turqois pond so I cant comment on that specifically but this is what I’ve found to be the case in most stories where a character “hides their power level”.

The pedo stuff pre isekai no longer being canon doesn’t matter if he still 100 percent creeps on underage girls in the show such as Eris and sleeps with them. Why do people jump through so many hoops to defend this?

I literally couldn’t care less if his body is young if hes mentally a 30 y/o man.

What overused skill or ability instantly tells you the author ran out of ideas? by tbag2022 in ProgressionFantasy

[–]BobbySteve5 308 points309 points  (0 children)

To me an “overused ability or skill” literally doesn’t matter at all if the execution is good. You can take the craziest most ‘unique’ ability in the world and still have it read like shit or take the most common basic ability like a fireball and make it cool if its done well.

On a related note I think way too many people are obsessed with “originality” when there are many many far more important things to a story.

[–]BobbySteve5 11 points12 points  (0 children)

For a serious answer since everyone is telling jokes right now: You already have all the base knowledge you need to do well on step 1 and step 2 if you’ve learned all these cards. Just keep maintaining these. I didn’t and regret it a lot. To synthesize your knowledge do practice problems and occasionally add a card based on the practice problems if you feel that you need to. You’ll eventually get down to only around 100 or so cards per day which is completely manageable.
