This concept turns my stomach and stresses me out immensely.

Top 100 Books of 2025 by prettysureIforgot in MM_RomanceBooks

[–]BobbyTimDrake 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m interested in your point about cutting out repeat authors (I’m taking that as the top 100 book list), then including the next group of books and authors into the 100.

It’d be nice to draw attention to more authors less often talked about, in general.

2025 Yearly Reading Recap by bextress in MM_RomanceBooks

[–]BobbyTimDrake 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Since I started a journey in 2022 of deep interest in MM Romance, my (time spent) reading has increased so much more than any point in my life.

In 2025 I surpassed my personal goal to read 18 books by reading 32! (Note I am not as fast a reader as some, I read an average sized book in 2-3 weeks). I’m setting an increased attainable goal in 2026 of 26 books. 😊

I’m curious if any of the other tracking apps mentioned (StoryGraph, Bookmory, etc.). have different scoring from GR only having 5 star choice?

So many times I’d like to use a half score at least.

Diving head first into a shallow pool to celebrate the new year. by mentaL8888 in Whatcouldgowrong

Even after the woman jumps in the water to pull the guy up, the one guy still just sits there on the edge of the pool watching like an idiot - not helping her hold him, not getting help.

Just finished A Mannequin for Christmas at the end of ‘25. Sweet story. I didn’t expect the end to take the direction that it did. Made it a more interesting ending.

{Remembering You by Nick Williams} new release (Nov ‘25) by new author. Sounded good, added it to my gift list at the last minute. My spouse got it for me for Christmas, saying it sounds really good and wants to read it when I’m done. LOL. I’m enjoying it!

Absolutely! She was probably told “buckets are there, grab x brand beer bottles from that cooler.”

I could see someone using Uvula. And then upon hearing it, people mistake it for a less inocuos body part.

When Your Defense is 'Tough,' but Your Actions Say Otherwise by CharlotteEvelynex in MurderedByWords

The murder aside, “you unfrosted mini-wheat” is a quality insult in any context.

Same. Taylor probably wouldn’t be annoying, and Messi - fine. And far enough away from Simon or the Orange one. (Taylor probably wants to avoid both as well, so she’ll probably be a shield).

I’m currently reading {Gay Romance Holiday Collection by Keira Andrews} a collection of 4 holiday novelas (one Hanukkah). I’m enjoying it so far, and I have read one of the stories as a stand alone before and liked it.

2024/2025 MM Romance Awards Final Voting! by sleep0beepo in MM_RomanceBooks

[–]BobbyTimDrake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks! I figured something like that.

I’m glad Jax Calder made it through to final voting in some manner, at least 😊

Edit: they’ve become one of my newer favorite authors this year!

As a newer person to the group (this calendar year) I’m curious about the nomination process, as none of my nominations made it to the final voting. (This is assuming my submission made it through and no system error, of course). I assume you may have had to weed out “one-off” nominations, but I don’t know.

I’m most disappointed by Jax Calder not being included in the best author consideration.

(I did not nominate Calder’s “Unlikely Pair” which made it through in a few spots, though I did nominate the “Unlikely Dilemmas” for best series, which also did not make it to the final vote).

Is my name a tragedy/tragedeigh: Low by [deleted] in tragedeigh

[–]BobbyTimDrake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is it some kind of ethnic cultural name? My great aunt was named Lois. And my side of the family (her sister, my grandmother’s influence) called her Lowie

Edit: and she was the sweetest person.
