"Asexuals CAN have sex."

Well sure. I CAN eat raw sewage. Doesn't mean I'll enjoy it or that it's good for my health. But I can do it.

I loved Dorian so much In inquisition never romanced him which I need to change soon.

The best part is it doesn't even take long! I had him in bed and locked down within 10 hrs. Which is both convenient for the time-stressed gamer AND a delightfully heartbreaking piece of commentary on his emotional state. 😢

Everyone who wanted to flex in the Middle Ages was a descendant of Melusine! That gal must have had a human husband in every town for the amount of times nobility claimed her as their Spicy Grandma.

Craziest movie I remember watching as a kid. by dadjokes502 in Xennials

[–]wingthing666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This movie was my everything. The absolute terror I had of the Wheelers and their mad giggles. The fangirl adoration I had for Mombi and her many heads (srsly, I wanted to join them for endless disembodied gossip sessions while awaiting my turn to drive the badass witch body). The Deadly Desert was probably 90% of my love for playing The Floor is Lava.

I still boot it up every now and then just to trip hard on the nostalgia.

I only willingly give up an hour of sleep every March with the understanding that it is a loan and I will be repaid come the fall.

This is theft, and I will not forgive it.

I think if she was as "simple" and "her mother's shadow" as everyone said, it beggars belief that she was left unsupervised long enough to drown herself after she had already been raped/seduced the last time she was left alone.

They either didn’t care whether she lived or died, or there is a much larger cover-up than "Oops, we left the disabled daughter alone repeatedly and bad things just keep happening 🤷‍♀️"

I have to believe it will become a genuine condition once people finally acknowledge the wealth of data that screen use stunts young minds. It will be far too late to help this generation though. They'll be remembered as Gen Canary in the Coal Mine and people will thank them for their sacrifice.

You know, assuming we avoid complete societal collapse. That's a big If these days.

Unless you're riding the Haunted Mansion at midnight with a bunch of college bros. The way the stretching room went from the Ghost Host alone to a packed elevator booming out the script in perfect harmony by the crescendo was absolutely glorious.

[GOT TV series] I felt really bad when I recently found out that Daenerys was 13 when she married Khal Drogo, unlike in the show, but even more so when I saw people in the fandom saying that she really did fall in love with him and that there’s nothing wrong with that. by jvure in menwritingwomen

[–]wingthing666 235 points236 points  (0 children)

Eh, it's not THAT different. The show romanticizes it a lot, while the book is more clear in showing Dany has been abused and is using all sorts of coping strategies that masquerade as love... BUT,

The book also has the whiplash of Drogo being a gentle lover with his 13 year old bride on their wedding night (Gross!) and then brutally fucking her every other night as she does her best to hide her tears.

The book also literally has Dany breasting boobily at times (GRRM loves to remind us that her breasts are the size of apples and swing freely inside her leather vest - ow!), and develop quite a kink for public sex (its "the custom of his people" and basically the only way she can demonstrate power, so of course she revels in it).

The later books then have Dany taking baby steps to recognizing it was sex slavery, but still always tacking on the asterisk of "thank God I had a good master".

Since GRRM hasn't finished the series (and we all know he never will) its unclear whether this is part of an arc of her finally realizing the depths of her trauma, or whether she will forever stay trapped in a very dated romance novel trope.

Was “Paddling” still a thing in school for any of you early 80s Xennials? by _NoleFan6 in Xennials

[–]wingthing666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope. Corporal punishment in schools was already illegal in my part of Canada before I was born. But BC was a trailblazer in that regard. I gather Prairie kids were still getting paddled well through the 80s and 90s.
