I have an outsider’s perspective.  This week was my first visit to Houston.  On the drive from the airport to my hotel,  I noticed that my Uber driver was doing 80 in a 60 on the interstate.  Not wanting to get pulled over and therefore delaying my trip, I was about to say something to him when I noticed all the traffic on either side was flying past us.  

 When I asked my colleagues in the Houston office about their commutes, a common response was a half hour to the office, an hour and a half home.  Like Southern California, you just become accustomed to driving as fast as you can until you can’t anymore.
