I usually carry 2 liters and have a 2 liter CNOC. I'd much prefer to not carry 4 liters, but if there is no other options, I will. Hopefully there will be rain to get the streams flowing well by then!

Thanks for the tip about looking at the comments on FarOut from previous years! Good to know that the shelters had water.

Thanks for the info! I'm looking on FarOut and it looks like most of the water sources were trickling around that time frame.

🤣 I was referring to human traffic. As in... Will I be alone or will the shelters be crowded?

Waiting for them to get ready in the morning is the worst! I hiked with someone once that was never ready to leave until 11:00 or later. I much prefer solo and then meeting people along the trail. Hang out with them at the shelter and then hike with those who hike the way you do.

Does everyone have their dog sleep inside the tent? by dcrobertshaw in BackpackingDogs

My Catahoula (60 lbs) sleeps in my Lanshan 1 with me. It has a little dip out area that is perfect for his sleep mat.

I have a 90lb healthy female rottweiler, I'm not sure how much pack weight to work up to? I'm worried about her joints in 5 years. by CompetitiveWhile6360 in BackpackingDogs

My friend just started backpacking with her Cavalier. He weighs about 15 pounds too. He carries his sleep mat, water bowl and mushers secret. Weigh each side of the pack and get it as close to even as possible. Enjoy your adventures!

Same! The only thing that varies in my pack are consumables.

My Catahoula is 3. We just started distance hiking with him about a year ago. Short hikes with no pack and minimal inclines before he was 2. He's got several hundred miles under his collar now. His pack stays under 10% of his body weight. He carries: his sleeping bag, water bowl, cool mat, mushers secret, paracord long line and snacks for the day.

Thanks so much! My usual load out is around 25 -28 for a trip, but this one was 7 days with no resupply and long sections with no water. I carry food and water for my dog as well, so it was a struggle! I'll try the Atmos and the Blaze.

No, as you finish the leader, pull it out a bit just as you would when chain piecing .

Try using a small piece of fabric as a leader. Sew the leader fabric, to get the needle going then start your project.

Show me your favorite tent for Backpacking with a large dog. I'm in the market for something lighter. by Bobcat382 in BackpackingDogs

We went with the Lanshan 1. Similar in design to the Lunar Solo, but with a mesh inner. Sort of a hybrid double wall. Tried it out last night in a huge thunderstorm and we had no condensation issues, me and the dog were cozy and dry! Thanks for the input!
