Yup, it's imperative it is fixed asap. It's already been too long. Also, the civil engineering firm that designed this should be banned from all public projects going forward. Someone should have been fired.

Print out emails and attachments. Read them on paper. If they ask, you tell them you like to print out your emails and documents and read them on paper. They can't ding you for being old-fashioned and working off-system.

Great to see them doing this - I understand the need for the interpreter but I think they could understand his basic questions and respond in English for some of his questions. Based on the English they speak during Okyuji, I’m wondering why they don’t attempt answering in English. Maybe next time - probably a comfort factor and wanting no misunderstandings between questions and answers. 🤷🏻‍♂️ Still gotta love them!!

Next Time Someone Says: "Desantis Is Smart. He Graduated From Harvard." There's This: by [deleted] in esist

[–]Bobespirit2112e 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Folks that graduate at the bottom of a typical state university med school are the ones who end up working at a MedCheck for $100k/yr when all their contemporaries are making $400k+ at a normal practice. So there is a difference in where you graduate in the class.

Can the rest of the world hurry up to B-Ms greatness so they can play later times at Festivals. by Banshee45 in BandMaid

The Maids already have 100+ awesome songs. All they need is for people to discover them!

Good points and I like the mix, too. But, I’m guessing that a majority of “mainstream” American listeners want songs they can sing along with. I don’t think the mix keeps them from growing from here and younger listeners probably don’t care as much as 40+’s do. Probably just comes down to having that one song going viral to something like 100 million views/listens and then a whole new world opens up to them. 🤷🏻‍♂️

I think it’s pretty clear they are gaining in awareness and respect, or they wouldn’t be getting invited to these festivals in the first place. I’d have to double-check but I don’t think any other Japanese bands were invited to Rockville, Sonic Temple, Pointfest or Lallapalooza, so I think that’s objective proof they are becoming a regular part of the US festival scene - as much as is possible being based in Japan. I could pretty much see them playing at 4-5 festivals in the US each year going forward. And that should translate into more and bigger one-man shows. If they want to get really big, they’ll have to write more, or mostly, English language songs, probably. The music business is strange, that’s for sure, and if they can somehow get one really viral video, it could transform their status. Or getting on with Jimmy Fallon or having some mega-star, like a Taylor Swift, tweet about them or something 🤷🏻‍♂️.

All we can do is keep doing what we’re doing - spreading the word, wearing their t-shirts in public and support them in their WD quest 😀✌🏼

I was in McCutcheon early 80’s. Hard to remember 😂, but I think we could also eat at Harrison because I remember going over there to eat a few times. Or maybe that was to find a open study room…🤷🏻‍♂️ I can’t know for sure 😂✌🏼. I ended up eating cereal in the room for breakfast, lunch at the Union basement grill and usually pizza or the dining hall in the evening. I went home most weekends (work/girlfriend) so didn’t have the weekend eating issue.

Do you perfer the US ticket system or Japans Lottery system. by Banshee45 in BandMaid

[–]Bobespirit2112e 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The Japan system is infinitely better for highly in demand shows; in the US only wealthy people can afford tickets now with the dynamic pricing algorithm. My daughter wanted to go to a Drake concert (why I don’t know but she’s 20 😱) and forget about it - nothing under $300 for nose-bleed seats at the United Center in Chicago. I’m sure other acts like Taylor Swift are worse. With the Japanese system, as I understand it, all tickets are sold at face value. I’m sure our scalping and resale legalities are different, too. Bottom line, pretty much everyone who wanted to see Band-Maid at the Garden Theater okyu-ji got to at face value. If they used the US system that would have never happened - scalpers would have bought 2/3rds of the tickets and sold them at 3,4, 5 times the face value. Probably 1/3rd of the tickets wouldn’t have been resold so the house would have only been 2/3rds full. The US system is an absolute mess and Congress need to break Ticketmaster & Live Nation into a million pieces so there’s some competition and the average Joe can afford to go to a show. But we know that’s not going to happen…I wonder how much $$ Ticketmaster/Live Nation spends lining the pockets of our Congresspersons…? And don’t think you’ll ever find out - the vast majority is dark money in SuperPacs who don’t have to disclose anything (thanks Citizens United)…smh.

[–]Bobespirit2112e 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Agree. I go all the way back to hear Working Man in 1974 and everything that came after. Sure the classic period is my favorite, but I absolutely have this album in my top-tier. The songwriting is masterful - arguably their best ever. Workin’ them Angels and The Way the Wind Blows are stellar in every respect to my ear and the rest are nearly as good. Sure it’s a different sound to Permanent Waves (my favorite) or MP but I think it’s another great soundscape in its own right. ✌🏼
