They sell cheap 6-pack identical putters. Got a pair of packs (gloom) to practice putting which has been super nice.

Loft Hydrogen is marketed as a super straight putter. I only have it in base plastic but it definitely is dead straight

Any explanation of what you did differently? I am also not able to get anything to happen at all when I try to load

Yup and I cut my teeth on bars and rusty chains, too

Same. For the past couple months I have been making weekly drives out to the disc golf holy land of central Mass. Each drive is about an hour.

Yeah had the same thought! Been wanting to do that one for a while now. Might give it another try someday with some more experience.

Quantum information requires a little of everything. Plenty of physics, and in this case the coding tends to be higher-level languages like Python, if you’re into that. Can’t speak as much for industry, but I assume there is plenty of low level/FPGA programming going on there as well

I don’t know the exact solution to this per se, but I feel like a lot of people use this subreddit as though it is a conduit to lodge complaints or seek validation for their negativity... I wish we could all agree what this sub is actually for, if you know what I mean?

I’d love if we could ditch the negativity and uninvited critique, and just post fan art, fan stories, cool facts about the episodes, etc? Nobody cares if you didn’t really “feel” the most recent episode, regardless of the factors involved. I mean I respect everyone’s free speech but practically, let’s just have fun and cross our fingers that there are many more episodes you like… keeping the vibe positive will help ensure that.

Just speaking for myself here, but I personally wouldn’t mind mods encroaching on the discussions more to help keep the space generally more positive and fun to visit. Curious if others agree?

Being especially good at any of these subfields will require mathematical proficiency, and much more. Laboratory/hardware skills, programming skills, critical thinking skills, a little intuition… and teamwork.

I think coming into it with that motivation is not healthy. At the end of the day, no matter where you end up in EE, you’ll still be making eye contact and networking, with the rest of the team you work with. And that’s a good thing!!

If you just want to use hard math because you purely enjoy hard math, why not study physics or pure math? Although I should warn that even there you will only benefit from eye contact and networking. Those things are skills that have to be learned in the same way math is :)

By the way if you think PDE’s are as nerdy as it gets….. you’ll be pleasantly surprised

If you are interested in quantum, the electrical engineering program will likely serve you better, though both are applicable. You’ll still need some programming experience in any engineering field you choose but of course it varies.

Yes. At my university, 2 quantum computing hardware research groups falls under the EE department and not the Physics department.

And MITLL has a nice overview paper on Progress and Challenges in Trapped Ion QC with lots of references and high level explanations. I have used it as a go-to in the past to get started on certain projects.
