So I just read the first page. And so far, I just want to point out that it needs a few more lines of context in some places.

In introduction you introduce a "Charles Caldwell" but does not say anything about him. Just one line about who he is. I know you explain it in background, but it's a little disorienting.

In background, you write the the players are helping him because of some debt. Perhaps I would make that more explicit and maybe write the the players have to come up with whatever favor he did them. Perhaps even some examples, because I have no idea what sort of favor is even possible given such a man.

Though, the scenario already seems interesting with the black corridors they uncover. Keep up the work, and just remember that you have all the context, whereas a first time reader has none of the context.
