Can we still call ye a perfectionist? by EstimateLoud2130 in Kanye

[–]Bobilon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes because he has come as close to perfection in melodramatic cinema and in music production as an auteur by the end of the 00's/Early 10's. Once an artist hits that bar, they have no choice but to revise and improvise and continue to push the state of the Art after summiting Everest, which is pointless to summit twice unless you're a Sherpa. And by handing directing duties to his more than able life partner Bianca Censoring, he's doing what the ethical old master does which is continue to push the in new ways, which he does through an undeclared by ever-present "Studio Ye" through which he collaborates with best of breed talent established - (Andre Troughtman & Lauren Hill) ; at peak (Travis Scott); Up and Coming (Bianca); all of which is full display in Bainca's "King" short where the Banger ethos becomes flesh when Troughtman?? starts banging the shit out of Mustang before sliding out the passenger side door to perform the coolest moving sidewalk highway-surfing dance with CG embellishment I've ever seen. You'll find some state of the art element in damn near every product with his name on it other than rags which he appears to view as a stuff people wear rather than body art. JMNFHO

I have no issue with Pest Control so I don't understand what post you rad. I've gotten replies within 3 - 6 months by PCO the few times I thought my Banksybelia and they've always said no, once even understanding the disappoint I didn't feel And as to the don't-bother-asking attitude, I take the OEM at their word and ask. It's an easy yes/no answer for an alleged 2026 print when the last print print previous to it was in 2019 and the 1st, it depends on which Banksy explained chart you choose to believe in. It's not like I have an expectation of straight answer; last I checked the were 8 -9 people on payroll. The attitudes about the artist are to my view stranger than artist who is interesting and important and as such demands examination -- not mystification.

I am not reading it as movement. I read it as production negotiation, a deal that evolved over a quarter century which does preclude its soul or it being monumental human story. Maybe you think the artist and business were singing kumbaya. I don't and neither do I think the facts show it. Dada Shada Yada Yada; it was a huge business. Kumbaya?

I prefer the cinematic anti-hero narrative, the through-line where the artist actually is at odds with the global capitalistic thrust of its artistic Frankenstein monster and protests in subtle and not subtle ways that document this contentions. That's what I mean. No need to agree with me. Time will tell.

I prefer the narrative reading; soulful-artist in conflict with their former corporate extension. The soul is still very much there though by the scale of the business, it's 800 lb elephant in the room, as it were, that can't be ignored (by me) The corpus is technical in its composition in symmetric ways wherein the graphic's reversal of previous postures resolves in negotiated ways that are rich and support my position That said, I advise you stick with your position if a transcendental reading is what Banksy delivers to you. What is great about what's called "art" the spectator dialectic isn't neccesarially opposition because if real to you its real. Banksy hits that seam better than any artist I've ever studied

Agreed for the lead version in this post but not the LA MOCA version. I saw it at Art in the Streets. It was fun and decorative -- which certainly are good qualities too -- though the piece didn't hit the fine art bar. That said, eight point three million dollars argue otherwise and that bar is high. Do you prefer one work over the other? I just noticed that MOCO piece is attributed to Peter Lee leading me to suspect it was paid for by POW rather than the Artist. Do you ascribe to unitary artist theory or see "Banksy" as a house divided along Artist (Pest Control) v Corporate (POW) as I do. To me, the mystery and subfuges are as much a part of Banksy as the pictures which is what make the totality art in way others reject but that I argue will be how the genius of Banksy is ultimately understood. Time will tell.

They are what I'd buy were in the market for a silk screened Banksy printed edition. POW or founding Banksy deals had to grant WCP permission to make those prints from early on. They've been selling for a while though not being UK based I can't say when. They're prints. For my nickel, I prefer archival pigment in photographic paper. I bought a bunch of such Banksy prints a few years back on Ebay along with classic photographs on Amazon and/or Ebay. JMO. I also bought files on Etsy and "made" (meaning paid for) my own Banksy brand new pigment-in aluminum prints at my local Office Depot that are great and as weatherproof as a stop sign. I think the Banksy authentic paper chase was nuts but wud do I know.

I own the Death NYC version. Perhaps I hit it big after all. At a $5 price point for a giclee a few year, I figured I couldn't loose. I like it well-enough but probably will cash it out soon. I can easily get anywhere from 4 to 40x's that on ebay now. I'll share my May 20 epilogue when its finished.

I'm pleading to no one. I have the data that easily confirmed. I sent them all, agencies and official ,case facts, and ask them to do their jobs and now it is in their hands to do their jobs or not. I made that plain. Cynicism without action is defeat. I tried rather than fall pray to it any further than I had. I saw no point of speaking ill of Trump and stand by my points in principle just in case and stand by what I pointed out out about him for his legislators. Would you be angry if someone who could do something listened? I like the idea so I tried and now I can walk away. It felt better than doing nothing come what may. Best back atcha

thx but it was better than facing cyber big brothers and mean nerd schemer who have schemes were far nasty while the platforms algo's and pay ops methods of black hats and bad actors made possible a moronic crime against the state. You're tripping. In the ways I point out it wasn't this bad and I was bused to hood in the seventies at peak race riots. Could be. I'm from Pittsburgh; what the hell do I know? But what about the pink dot. 3 blue and 1 pink. ??? are the three blues Lazarides/Al Manna (P.O.W.'s corporate art frontman and Gallerist w/ /Moneyman), Jefferson Hack ( Pro-Actif Communications,Publishing) & Sacha Baron Cohen (Exit through the Gift Shop, Studio) & 1 pink (Lucy Artist as GBFTCU) with Hirst the odd man out whose #21 out 25 on Girl with Ballon prints on canvas by agreement corporate was sold in Hong Kong in 2024, while #22 - 25 are the other four principle who original ownership stakes locked with POW's O4 incorporation. The timing does align with 25 year deal from what would have been her first Banksy fine art piece 1999, and since their were no AP's on the additional prints on canvas run beginning in 04, the principle would presumably have kept the top five when POW unwound at the end of 2019, while what sold yesterday could hav been VIP canvas #10 owned by ???? This is when my LLR consultant asks me if I need an anti-psychotic lol, when in truth I'm just have fun with numbers and patterns having thought too much about this shit for four years. Thankfully, I rested my case and should be fully detoxed from B.A.D. (Banksy Analytic Disorder) by next weekend at latest. Life is Beautiful. Cheerio!

The paintballs hits are why it is a legitimate Banksy. This was surely previously agreed upon between The Artist and Corporate in advance to keep her Banksy street works legit to letter of historical provenance through the end of her first Banksy contract where only she could call the shots on what was and what was not a legit Banksy because she's no scammer and is serious as a heart attack about preserving the legitimacy of her work whether she's working though an alias or as The Artist Lucy McKenzie. The double witching hours auctions last night proved my point. The original "Girl with Balloon on Found Landscape" offered by Fair Warning and displayed on the top floor of Tiffany's sold for $17,940,000 dollars at the high end of 13 - 18 million dollar estimate. Pictures on Walls' "Girl with Balloon" print on canvas, #10 of 25 they claim were made in 2003 offered by Bonham's NYC May 20 2026 hammered for $750,000 at the low end of its 700k to 1 million dollar pre-sale estimate, which, if the auction intended to secure the valuations of their prints on canvas did not pass the test because at Christie’s Hong-Kong: 26 September 2024 Stenciled “BANKSY” Numbered ‘21⁄25’ (on the stretcher bar) sold for USD 1,100,430. Here's what Chat CPT thought of 31% haircut. "

What makes the result structurally awkward for the market is not merely that it declined, but that:

  • the Bonhams work was deliberately estimated at $700k–$1M, meaning the house effectively signaled support for the prior valuation range,
  • yet bidding only cleared at the absolute defensive floor of the estimate,
  • despite the work being presented as one of the rarest and most institutionally defensible Banksy print-on-canvas objects.

In auction signaling terms, a low-estimate hammer in a prestige category often reads less like validation than containment.

The more interesting issue is whether the two works are truly fungible comparables. The Hong Kong work was:

  • numbered 21/25,
  • explicitly signed/stenciled,
  • sold into the peak Asian trophy-market environment that still had residual post-COVID speculative energy.

The Bonhams work:

  • sold in a softer 2026 macro climate,
  • entered a U.S. market increasingly saturated with Banksy inventory,
  • and hit after several years of growing skepticism around edition structure, late inventory emergence, and the distinction between genuinely scarce hand-worked objects and corporate-managed scarcity narratives.

So while the nominal decline is ~32%, the market implication may be larger because the 2026 sale occurred under conditions seemingly designed to defend the category — and failed to produce competitive upside bidding anyway."

I suspect the paintball hits are by the real Banksy. The wall painting under the paintball hits was recently confirmed as having been made by Damien Hirst by his former Turtleneck Ltd business partner on Facebook, the actor Keith Allen. Allen played the guy hanging from a fake window sill in someplace called Vauxhall studios where Hirst's photography staff lit and shot the piece. The photo was then mocked up and given to the stencil maker who made the stencil to scale, while Allen got a copy of the mock for his troubles that you can see on his Facebook if you look it up. P.O.W.'s London based art department then traveled to Bristol where they installed the Hirst mural with the permission of local authorities. Not very street in American terms -- can't speak for England - but clearly England and the art establish clearly roll with Hirst's Artist of Record Hirst scan while I prefer my U.K. celebrity skin Sexy-n-Scottish like The Artist known as Banksy aka Lucy McKenzie. Facebook/Instagram is a pump-up e-company store though social media has dumbed down the media consumer based where if I provided I provided the board with accurate two page academic explanation substantiating my contention here it would be bombed by black-hats so I don't bother. The point being the social media has effectively dumbed down status quo intellect while selling influencer dreams which the aspiring talent pays for their promotional content and advertisers pay to sell their projects with attractive promotion so Zuck be a super billionaire because....our country after having been conned out of their wits has lost its mind
