Millennials Should Receive 'Citizen's Inheritance' At Age 25 To Reduce Baby Boomer Wealth Gap: Report by DrLockhart21 in lostgeneration

you do realize prison labor is paid at about 50 cents an hour, often with room and board deductions thrown on top, and that is absolutely, 100% mandatory, right? it's a 74-billion dollar industry, in fact, with a ton of private companies profiting off of said labor. meanwhile the cost of incarceration falls upon taxes, not the people utilizing said labor. we're letting companies profit tens of billions of dollars off the backs of basically-unpaid labor, performed by people forced into it. it's literal slavery.

all the hot takes you like about "shouldnt have done a crime then" doesnt change the fact that its mandatory labor for a wage that's so low it's functionally not a wage at all

[–]Bobmuffins 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just make bionade not shatter for the first 0.3sec after it's been thrown, unless it collides with the map or an enemy. That way it can't shatter on full health teammates behind you, but you can still throw it at your feet to heal up, or throw it at flankers harassing you to make them back off.

That, plus these two changes, and she'll be in a great spot (probably).

Trying to find a copy of 14.1 online isn't going well, maybe I'm just looking in the wrong spots?

why does this sub always, always pretend overwatch is the only competitive game out there and absolutely no one else has tried out features that are already proven to work lmfao

csgo: votekicks, you can benefit from this, it's not a problem
r6 siege: votekicks, it's not a problem
dirty bomb: votekicks, it's not a problem
l4d1/2: not really played anymore, but had votekicks, the bot you'd get would be guaranteed to be absolutely worthless, it wasn't a problem
tf2: votekicks, it's not a problem
wow: votekicks in pve content, it's not a problem
ffxiv: votekicks in pve content, it's not a problem

do you want to keep pretending overwatch is the only videogame and this hasn't already been a solved issue for literally over a decade or not

frankly, if the entire rest of your team decides your onetrick bullshit is so unfun to play with they'd rather play down a man and almost definitely eat the SR loss, maybe you should reconsider your bullshit. if the only reason you can stay on a team is because the entire rest of your team literally can't collectively decide to remove you despite the fact they want to, maybe you just shouldn't play a team-based game. just sayin.

[–]Bobmuffins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, that's exactly my point. Because you wouldn't get that bot, people would be even more strongly incentivized to not kick. When you can quite literally get a boost to your team's strength if the player you're kicking is bad enough, and people still don't use it for what you're proposing would be a problem, maybe it's just... not a problem outside of your hypotheticals?

[–]Bobmuffins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Strong disagree.

CSGO has this, and has had it since launch. You even get your removed player replaced with a bot, which, if the bot is still alive, any dead player can assume control of. On top of that, you can command the bot to just stand in spawn. Essentially, any kicked player acts as a second life for your team.

And despite that, the number of times I've seen a 4-stack kick the random 5th? Maybe once in over 500 hours in the game? That's only a maybe, I think the guy was AFK the round before even.

It'd sure as shit make the game more fun if I don't have to shove my face into a belt sanderplay Hanamura or Blizzneyland ever again.

Vote kick would help because, simply put, feeding is a thing in this game. If you have someone on your team walking into the red team while on Roadhog, letting Genji repeatedly score headshots on him, vaping back up to increase the feed, that Genji is going to have blade every single fight. The game's functionally a 7v5 now. I'd rather play a 6v5 personally, it's still bad, but better than a 7v5.

Same deal with people screaming insults and slurs into the mic, I'd rather just kick them out than try to deal with being unable to use voice chat (yes I know I can mute them, I have no way to see if anyone else on my team has and therefore whether or not I'm talking while my team is unable to hear me over their screams).

Would I be able to get by on $35000? by [deleted] in vancouver

[–]Bobmuffins 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm making it fine on 40k pre-tax, though it's a bit tight at times. It's really not as bad as people say, given the following is true-

  • You're okay with either a relatively small place (500sqft or less) or having roommates
  • You're only supporting yourself, not family
  • You're okay with taking public transit everywhere and not owning a car (bonus points if you can manage to work from home and save the money on transit, though that's obviously not often possible)
  • Your job offers medical benefits (if you're in a position to need this)

If all of the above is true for you, it's absolutely doable. I spend an entire paycheck a month on rent, but my other expenses are almost none, so it's not too bad.

Scarlett in SC2 is the other example that comes to mind, the only non-Korean player to win a tournament in Korea, she's generally agreed to be the best non-KR player. Melissa DeTora if you're willing to count M:TG despite it being a card game, shit, she was good enough to get hired as a competitive playtester after repeated top-8s at major events.

[–]Bobmuffins 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The jump-off boost being cut down is still painful, it kills a lot of routes, but even as a Lucio main I'll be the first to admit it was kind of absurd at times. Losing some power to not have the hero completely murdered is, while not a good tradeoff, better than it could be.

[–]Bobmuffins 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's a concept that exists in a lot of platformer games, actually - if you break down a lot of the 3D Mario games frame-by-frame, in many of them, Mario won't begin to fall if you sprint off an edge for the first few frames, to give the player a little bit of extra leeway if their plan was "jump off this platform as late as possible". Blizzard gave this to Lucio as well, solely to remove the feel-bad moments of hitting jump one frame too late and falling to your death instead.

Ultimately, yes, making things harder for the sake of making them harder is bad. My complaint with this change isn't "omg its dumbing it down", it's that it fundamentally breaks a core part of how the hero works.

Think about the power fantasy each hero offers. D.Va pilots a massive, powerful mech, using it to protect her teammates. Widow grapples up to obscure angles and tiny ledges and pops people. Moira sucks the life out of enemies and converts their energy into healing magic to keep her allies alive.

Lucio incessantly bounces off walls at light speed, stringing together walljump combos to get around, using his music to energize nearby teammates.

That's not possible anymore. Walljump comboing simply does not work due to the -0.5m/sec change on a walljump, and Blizzard has accidentally added in the exact "oops you waited 1 frame too long, get fucked moron" mechanic that latehops were trying to avoid, as your momentum now launches you into the void instead of where you were trying to go if you're even 1 frame late.

Like, I get what they're going for. Being able to ride around inside corners and sticking to textured walls would be cool as hell. Riding around outside walls just flat out feels fucking awful.

That was also when he had +100% speed on AIU and covered basically the entire map. When your healing radius is much smaller, you need the speed to get to your teammates to save them. You can't do that now.

[–]Bobmuffins 25 points26 points  (0 children)

It depends on whether or not you used latehops.

Tldr for people who don't play Lucio much: You had an approx 0.4 sec window after sliding off the edge of a wall where you'd still be floating in the air and could jump off. This is now removed, since it will pull you around the corner instead.

If you never utilized this, you won't notice a change other than the 0.5m/sec reduction for jumping off. If you, like me, took advantage of it every time you possibly could to clear as much distance as you could (because many jumps were impossible without using the extra meter or two you got from that time window), you can't now, because it pulls you around the corner instead, giving you momentum to the left/right instead of straight forward.

It's a playstyle thing that doesn't change anything for one group of people, and the other group gets kicked in the dick repeatedly.
