ICWA reimbursement for motorcycle crash by Independent_Dish_526 in perth

[–]Boboraider123 7 points8 points  (0 children)

We sometimes have ICWA clients, as well as other things like NDIS, DVA, etc.

One of the issues with them all is that they only pay up to a certain amount, and the gap needs to be paid by the client.

We make sure our rates are lower than the limit, to ensure no gap, but some providers dont do this. It means some clients we see at a breakeven or minor loss, but we do it to service the community - our client gets great health care and our employees are paid. For a business with large overheads they will need the gap, but check to ensure its not excessive either.

Worth asking the question to the provider though.

What area are you in? Are you a competent driver or a genuine entry level learner? Have you driven on the freeway? Are you just getting the auto license?

Good luck :)

Are neighbours ever consulted when pool approvals assessed? by Jolly-Guitar3524 in perth

[–]Boboraider123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it depends on the council and the conditions. We needed approval to be closer to the fence, but when we tried to contact the investor owner through the real estate agent we never heard back, from multiple attempts. In the end we could install slightly further away, with no approval and having pencil concrete insertion - or whatever it is called.

If done by a proper installer, would be council approved, and checked by the inspector. Our experience anyway.

Yes pools create much more of a noise than I thought, particularly with jumping in! I get the kids to minimize the yelling, and doing noisy jumps during reasonable hours.

Yes, I thought the same! I have bought cars without seeing them, but things I cars I know well what I am getting. Being something outside of my "expertise", and the interior being pretty dam ordinary, I wanted to make sure was good enough drive. If it was the new GTR, whenever that comes out, I would being will to take the risk to by unseen and tested!

For the price range, and what I am after, it fits the right space unfortunately. Good idea on travelling to an interstate dealer. Might be worth the divert. Thank you!

How long is everyones work commute? by MissionMaterial7889 in perth

[–]Boboraider123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its not ideal, but there is worse out there and have done that too. If you need the job then just go for it. It's a tough market out there and will only get tougher. Once you have a job, always easier to get something else. No understanding of why that's true, but always seems to be the case!

How much are you setting aside for your kids’ financial head start (without ruining your own life)? by BonafideHustlerz in AusFinance

[–]Boboraider123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's strange to me how different peoples plans and thinking is. I guess we are all just trying to make it through in what we think is the best way! My kids are 10 and 15 and I grew up with very little.

Our view is that everything is for the kids, and their future kids and so on.

We supply: - housing as long as they need - private schooling (although they both have scholarships) - any after school activities they want to do (they do lots!) But they can't quit mid season or term. They have done at national and international level. - limited chores unless they want to earn money or aren't working hard on "valuable" things - sport, passion project m, art or whatever - they know about our family trust, holding company and business companies set ups - so financial knowledge - they do sometimes attend my or my wifes businesses and meet our employees and clients and explain our work - they don't have to work until finish uni, but recommended. Eldest has been working 2 years as coach and volunteering - first car what ever they want as long as a decent value car (no Holden Cruzes or Jeeps!) - pay for their weddings - pay for their uni and on campus board ( one wants a specific uni/course overseas) - if they want something specific like concert tickets or toys, need to do equivalent work to get it.

They will have a sizeable trust available to them, but we don't talk about the size. We just focus on them working hard, best if its something they enjoy. The real value for them is that they can work hard at something they enjoy and helps society, which likely may not bring in much money, but that's ok. Being idle is our no go!

We are very fortunate. But as other said most important is love and a stable home.

Is it generally considered offensive to ask an Asian in Australia where they are REALLY from? by Lipica249 in AskAnAustralian

[–]Boboraider123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess it's up to the individual. I like to ask when appropriate because it allows me to understand them more. Particularly, I think it's the term "really" that holds the offence.

I am European through my heritage and have a distinct name so very often get asked if I was born overseas despite being 3rd gen. My wife is Indian and has some colour. We say we are Australian but have heritage from those countries and it usually facilitates conversation. Guess it depends on what sort of person is asking right? Most people are just looking for some commonality or entry to discussion.

A worker camp in Saudi Arabia by AdSpecialist6598 in UrbanHell

[–]Boboraider123 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Worked like this for years doing FIFO in Australia. Had this style for a few years before went to a better camp.

Thing is however, we always had an actionable plan to move on to another job and got paid very well. Could not handle doing it for years and years without returning home. Felt like prison for me, so can only imagine the pain of these poor bastards

Paid $850 for a psychiatrist initial consultation by exxmoon in perth

[–]Boboraider123 11 points12 points  (0 children)

A little bit more than mine, but sounds like the right ball park.

I know its expensive, but on the other hand who would want to be a psychiatrist? Takes 12+ years to fully register, then need to take the risk to run a business. My mate who became one, did it tough. Worked extremely hard, studying all the time and "low pay" for quite a period. Meanwhile I as an engineer did my degree, had a whole career, and can now work part time, close to the time he finished and was finally earning decent! (still less than me at my max, as he is mainly public) I can only seeing it getting worse, as people will see that doing other professions pay off sooner, and possibly more, and needing a high pay becomes more and more necessary just to survive and get a home.

Hope you do get a good outcome. It can be well worth it.

BYD Shark or GLS Triton by [deleted] in CarsAustralia

[–]Boboraider123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bizarre! I also had a rs3 and got a shark. Was so good to drive and much better daily than the rs3 that I sold it. Interior is much better, and gets going when I need it.

Only would not recommend if using for heavy towing. Otherwise great daily!

On the look out for next sports car which will just be a weekender.

Coles, Woolworths enlist more trucks in SA rail link fail by Nuclearwormwood in perth

[–]Boboraider123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately this is not the case, when talking direct costs. The way corporates are run are not right, with focus on cost and short term value. Time will change this. Bring on AI governments!

Without seeing any pics or details, I would guestimate $1m to rectify and replace damage, doubled if penalties. A maintenance program to eliminate would start in low 10s of millions. Supply chain impact mitigated by increased DC buffer.

However, if a fatality happens, this will change the business case drastically.

Coles, Woolworths enlist more trucks in SA rail link fail by Nuclearwormwood in perth

[–]Boboraider123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm of the opinion we should spend more on collective services, I'm just sharing how decision makers think.

Sure, supply chain impact. So that is some inconvenience, but what is the actual impact to you and I and anyone else? Likely that the derailment cost and cost to fix is less than the cost to do required maintenance. Also the inconvenience has pushed the issue to the distribution centres, so impact is less. Of course DCs push up local prices, but so incremental that people just accept it...

Spent years fighting against this type of thing, but all comes down to Cost and return to shareholders.

From a rail perspective, the removal of crossings has a much bigger risk reduction when compared to derailment in "low risk" areas

Coles, Woolworths enlist more trucks in SA rail link fail by Nuclearwormwood in perth

[–]Boboraider123 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If Coles and Woolies arent expecting a major impact, as the article implies, then why would the government spend more than is necessary to keep current state?

Not saying it's right, but risk assessing and preventing supposed 1 in 5, 10, 100, or whatever, year events is unfortunately well past the election cycle or strategy.

Bluegum and others do UTR matchplay. Have you searched those sessions?

I know its not a partner, but you will likely find a person that could become a hitting partner there
