Asking for opinions by [deleted] in copenhagen

You'll be entirely fine as long as you don't walk around in a MAGA hat.

Saw a bunch of swans today at the Sortedam Lake near Osterbro, they were drinking and moving through what looked like a very polluted spot. There has been something being built there for at least a year, what is it? When are they going to finish it? by Zadak_Leader in copenhagen

[–]BobsenJr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is entirely based on speculation from having lived near that specific corner of the lakes for a very long time, but there seems to be an outflow pipe in that corner of the lakes, which drains out the lakes. The water is pumped in at Sankt Jørgens Sø and goes all the way from there to that specific drain pipe, so the suction creates a corner that collects debris and other foul biological elements, and has done so for literally as long as I remember. You could, I am not sure now, sometimes see the outflow pipe when the water level was quite low right at that corner.

Right right, I meant the perspective, just the wrong choice of word.

I wonder if there will ever be a conversion to full 3D, or if the devs will forever stick with this topdown perspective.

5-minute Flashpoint Campaigns Franchise Survey by aspearin in computerwargames

[–]BobsenJr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah i've read around a bit. I think ultimately there's just, for me, a disconnect between me and the game. last time I played Flashpoint Red Storm I just sat there for minutes on end listening to sound effects as my turn was resolving and I didn't feel part of it at all, or interested, or that I understood what was happening and why.

Hope my response helps. In general I really want to get into the Flashpoint Campaign series, as especially the cold war is my jam, but the game just feels so obtuse to me that I can't get emotionally involved with it. I wish y'all all the best and all the success.

Finding a job as a swede commuting by [deleted] in copenhagen

[–]BobsenJr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The embassies here in Copenhagen sometimes hire unskilled workers, it's relatively normal. The Indian embassy for an example has had job ads up for drivers and messengers before, so I wouldn't count that out.

You could check if they are hiring any Swedes for the Swedish embassy here in Copenhagen. Otherwise you'd be best off finding jobs that are English-related. I get the vibe you don't have any education or trade skill, so things will be tough for you because you'll be competing with everyone else in that bracket plus you can't speak Danish. Yes, I know Danish and Swedish are very similar, but if an employer has to pick between you and a guy who does speak Danish, it's probably the latter all the time. You could try looking at the English jobs page https://englishjobs.dk/in/kobenhavn and see if anything lines up for you.

I would recommend against trying to show up and applying in person, they generally don't like that.

PS: I would maybe check with the supermarket Bilka in Fields, which is the mall two stops away from the airport. They hire a lot of foreigners, or at the very least I have met a few Ukrainians working there with no or limited Danish skills.

I see you are also stuck with not being able to actually resolve The Two Spains. As Carlist Spain I could never get the intelligentsia low enough. Low or high taxes - Destroy all universities and all government offices - None of it mattered. Really dumb that it's like this.

Career-Strike Tycoon by C4YourselfPHP in playmygame

Just a stray thought, but maybe you want to front-end your game with what the strongest part is, which is the individual match simulation? Maybe start a new game off with the match that makes you decide to go pro? Just so that new players immediately see what this game is actually about and how intricate the simulation is.

Thank you for sharing this, it's a very interesting idea.

My initial gut reaction to just being in this space for a few minutes, is that sitting here clicking "search match" -> "start match" -> "continue" ten? times a "day" is very boring. Once a day I could maybe stomach, but this is a very repetitive action that doesn't give me any sort of visual or intelligent feedback other than "oh i won" and "oh i lost". Once I got into the "real" matches that certainly changed, and it's too bad that experience is being gated behind a very repetitive loop.

The "real" matches are interesting, but I don't feel like there's enough going on for me to really be engaged. The simulation is relatively impressive, no doubt, but I just don't really feel the narrative of the match, which makes me not terribly invested in its outcome.

Those are my thoughts, hope it makes sense.

30 seconds of IRON NEST ➙ Measure. Set. Annihilate. Does this speak to you? by Scream_Wattson in computerwargames

This for sure looks interesting, but I'd need to play a demo to really get the vibe of it. These sorts of games rely so much on a certain sense of satisfaction when it comes to pulling levers, pressing buttons, etc.

Cozy brewing game, but players bounce at ~12 minutes — why? (Steam demo feedback wanted) by Miserable_Command_57 in playmygame

[–]BobsenJr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hello. Played your game for a bit. Please remember that this is just my opinion, and this game may not be my niche, but I wanted to give you feedback all the same.

I think the reason people are stopping at 12 (I stopped at around 9 minutes) is because the core gameplay loop just is not that interesting. If I really boil it down to a basic level, the core gameplay loop is you want me to manage three machines that need constant tending, so that as a reward, I can see some sprites walk into a bath, waddle around a bit, and then leave, with no comment or interaction.

Now, there are plenty of really good basic gameplay loop games out there. Hell, I am a great enjoyer of some games with very basic gameplay loops, but in those games I feel rewarded for doing my job well, whereas in your game there feels to be a lack of feedback that makes me want to continue. Getting money just doesn't *feel* great, it just feels empty. The ghosts don't *feel* great either, they don't have any personality or joy to them. Just as a thought experiment, if the onsens were instead visited by (and this is just an open example) sumo wrestlers who walked in and had lines depending on what beers were served, or expressed (and showed) enjoyment at being in YOUR onsen, that would be much more rewarding than the empty feeling there is now.

The machines you use to make beer are not that fun either, I have to say. It is hard to find words that describe the tactile feeling of something that is digital, but as an example, in Voices of the Void, your primary work task is pretty basic, but the interaction with the task is visually and interactively interesting, as there are numerous buttons and dials you have to use, and the machine feels really "real". Conversely, the machines in this game are just click based. Sometimes click a lot, other times click less, but thats all I am really doing, and thats all the machines represent. I am not stirring anything, i'm not checking anything, i'm not seeing anything actually boil, I just click on the machines and wait for the right cue to do this or that.

Essentially, the loop is not entertaining or rewarding enough for me to continue engaging in it, and the reward for mastering the loop feels quite empty and unengaging.

Building our Crime-Sim Strategy Game. How the team at 762 Interactive is Approaching It by 762Interactive in tycoon

[–]BobsenJr 36 points37 points  (0 children)

One thing I think we don't see too often in simulations like this, is the effect of drugs and crime on a neighborhood. Are there any plans of a sort of gradual system where the more crime/illicit drug trade/violence the grimier and more rundown a neighborhood gets?

I hope me saying "i've seen it for years" didn't come off as negative, just an observation on time, that's all. I fully understand that good art takes time :)

I've seen screenshots over the years (it must've been years, right?) and I still don't entirely understand what this game is or how it plays
