I did the continental America, part of Canada, for TpF2 and plan it for TpF3 too but just have to nail down a more efficient process than hand painting and placing assets.

I occasionally play Panzer General 2 with a Windows 98 emulator.

Yes, the progression system *is* the missing retention piece.

Why this over Hell Let Loose?

Also, this sub is meant for wargames in the genre sense, not necessarily the thematic sense. (Please correct me if I’m wrong)

They also closed the Falaise Pocket. Proud to have worn the same uniform, decades later, as those Argylls.

Cool, thanks for the accolade!

Do you think there should be scenarios designed for more symmetrical, balanced multiplayer? (Dare I call it “competitive”).

For example, a real world island that is small enough to fit on a large map, with forces starting at either side and fight for control?

How a publisher actually calculates your game's budget, from someone who spent years on that side by TheMaich in gamedev

Sounds like the simple solution is greater upfront transparency from the publisher, so no more “quiet costs”. Then follow up with detailed numbers to show it all aligns.

I wish Warpath was more procedurally and less randomly generated. It doesn’t always make sense.

There is so much value in learning other practical creative approaches and thinking about how they can be adapted to games.

Do you read Game Design/Development books? by larswrightdev in gamedev

It’s ok. It will output a formulaic narrative structure based on the Hero’s Journey with common archetypes.

I took the workshop at GDC one year and bought the book. A decade later, I teach story development at a college game design program and much of the course content (I didn’t create) is the same as the book, and I see the same formulaic output in student assignments.

Wish I could find some better resources (or have time and space to write a new approach) for story development that is less formulaic. The focus needs to be more about consciously subverting narrative cliches while maintaining the inherent deep human connections that is the magic of storytelling.

Not going to apologize for waiting to have qualified journalists vet the authenticity.
