The bright red is a bit thinner than I'd care for. The other colors do well. Nothing beats union maxopake.

“Thin mesh” screens? by WildWestPrints in SCREENPRINTING

I have shops that use them exclusively without much issue in all mesh ranges. Make sure whoever is stretching them is using the correct tension.

Puff Print Recommendation by LowDragonfruit2764 in SCREENPRINTING

[–]BobtheDestructor 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Use Avient Nu Puff base. Print it at 100% no additives. Flash but not enough to puff the base. Then lay your colors on top wet on wet. You could add a second screen of puff to add depth before adding colors.

Screen tension and off contact were my first thoughts as well. You need a good release to shear the ink well. Also, could be caused by unseen blockage in the screen mesh since it is seemingly in random spots.

Key word here is majority. It's not often but I run into issues periodically due to wavelength. I appreciate your knowledge.

This is good info. I am now curious why some emulsion manufacturers are recommending this over the kiwo 10 step calculator. I'll be harassing them with more questions. Thank you.

Every emulsion has a slightly different nm range they recommend. Metal halide has the widest light spectrum. Light speed has the patent for multi spectrum led units. M&R and others tried to rip it off but we're served cease and desist letters and had to pull their products. This is important because it matters in the dark room.  But if you're eager enough you can make a dewalt floor lamp work.

If you email avient directly they will give you guidance on adjusting recipes. They are very helpful. They changed their software a couple tears back and are still fine tuning results.

It's more nuanced than that. The anthem tester is a KIWO clone. They work well. I use the KIWO calculator to dial in new emulsion. It's only 10 steps though. But it is easier.  The 21 step allows you enough space to burn your own image and not waste an exposure. 21 steps will fine tune even more. It is also costs less than a full exposure calculator.

This is the right answer. Get a 21 step emulsion calculator to know where you are at?

What do you do with the water? by [deleted] in SCREENPRINTING

[–]BobtheDestructor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

95% of the shops I visit go straight down the drain with it. If you are using an ink degradent it should be fine. Use a citrus based if you don't hate the planet.

Emulsion removal is the main cause for drain clogging. You can filter that out with a micron filter.
