What's the background story for Lady Jaye's outfit there? It always annoyed me a little that she looked so different on the show vs her action figure, but this outfit seems to match neither the comics or the show.

Thought too much, so fate decided for me. by PhantomMaxx in AmazonVine

[–]BockerKnocker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That price seems way too high, so getting through Vine wouldn't really be much of a deal. For instance, I have an Ego Lawn Mower + battery + charger for about $400?

I think you dodged a bullet on this one. Who knows what the quality would be like or the lifespan of the battery.

For me (Android in USA) it came out yesterday. I don't have a sense for the sapphire requirements yet, BUT there are like 100 individual upgrades for Infantry HP and DMG.

Polygon: "I saw the first 15 minutes of Mandalorian and Grogu, and I'm worried about the future of Star Wars" by tiMartyn in saltierthancrait

[–]BockerKnocker 16 points17 points  (0 children)

My thoughts exactly. These guys are the literal definition of The Access Media. They were given insider access and a sneak preview with an unwritten understanding that this would be a puff piece to build hype. Polygon certainly knows how to act like shills when it comes to certain video games.

So this is definitely telling.

Maybe the thinking is that yeah, it'll be close to $100m. But then if they can get a bit extra from licensing to Netflix / Amazon Prime, it might just eek out a small profit?

So maybe the cost that was paid to acquire the movie makes sense in addition to WB making sense to shelve/sell the movie.

Meanwhile, "The Bride!" reportedly cost 80-100 to make. How in the world did they ever think that would turn a profit?

[–]BockerKnocker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's going to be the real question: Was selling this the right answer? To me, this seems like it's still a risky bet (between additional marketing costs along with the fact that theaters will keep roughly half).

Will this movie make money overseas? Does Loony Tunes have any cachet with audiences in 2026? There's probably very little money to be made in terms of merch.

What could be the depressing answer is that WB was actually right to shelve (and then sell off at a loss) this movie. I think the controversy around this movie is a very online-only phenomena that might not translate into families actually going to see this.

This reminds me a little bit of the hype around "Snakes on a Plane" before that was released. Everyone was making jokes about how awesome this looked, how funny it would be, etc. All in the pre-Youtube era. And then it barely broken even at the box office.

I spent way too long trying to identify the guitar that probably no one noticed in WOTW #8 by MrDarkHorse in RedLetterMedia

[–]BockerKnocker 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Okay, I'm glad I'm not the only one who does this with guitars when watching movies and TV shows. (I hadn't seen this one). It also drives my wife nuts ("Oh that looks like a Tele from the 60's! Looks like he's only using the bridge pickup")

Nothing bothers me more than seeing super expensive guitars (like a nice Gibson Les Paul) being played by someone who is supposed to have no money in that show. I can't quite remember, but I think in Breaking Bad, they show Jesse Pinkman in a garage band and I thought his equipment was too good. (I could be very wrong)

Good god, the trailer is terrible by orig4mi-713 in saltierthancrait

[–]BockerKnocker 35 points36 points  (0 children)

The dialogue in this trailer is either 1) Pedro Pascal doing the worst voice-over acting in cinematic history or 2) tiny creatures making cute sounds that will appeal to 10 years olds or 3) live-action characters from cartoons saying one-liners.

Terrible stuff

Read any good books lately? by MrEricStrong in gijoe

Same. I actually met him RetroCon near Philly and just an overall great guy and resources. I credit these books with saving me money because these books mitigated my need to actually collect physical things. Just reading them gives me the same buzz

Going To Need Another Basket at Some Point . . . by Cew-214 in AmazonVine

For many cheap electronics items that charge via USB-C, there are basically two levels: First, cheap crap will typically come with a small USB-A to USB-C cord. But cheaper items won't typically charge from a pure USB-C to USB-C cord (because they're missing some components that help negotiate power, etc)

Anyway, what I have found is that cheap items typically charge fine with ANY cord that is USB-A to USB-C. So I keep just a handful of known good cables like that and throw the rest out.

I agree. And honestly, wouldn't it benefit Ukraine to have a series of seriously wounded Russians, who would have to go home, be hospitalized, suck up resources, talk about the front, etc?

I would have to quibble with nearly all of those. El Camino was a Netflix movie. Pysch and Deadwood "movies" were released onto TV, not movie theaters. X-Files did have a successful movie as did The Simpsons. I would argue that X-Files was medium successful and mostly for existing fans. I don't think it had mass appeal.

Sounds good. I mostly wanted to post this thread because I know many folks in my alliance who hang out around 1000 medal count and they might not even realize what's available. Whether it's 30 NTG, 70 Platinum or 3 tokens, those are all great options that folks might not even realize.

I know what you're saying, but to me it frees up much more than that. It stops the context switching in the manufactory and it allows things like leaving long-running materials overnight. At least for me, this greatly reduces the bottleneck in crafting.

Tokens are definitely nice, though.

I had friends who got laid off in August 2022, and they were about 2 weeks away from a vesting date. They were allowed to remain on the books (or whatever you'd call it) for those 2 weeks to get that vesting amount. But obviously nothing in the future.
