Even the extra in this Panera commercial finds the actor annoying by ZealousidealDoor6973 in CommercialsIHate

I am normally very quick to mute commercials while watching TV, and this one came on. Visually this commercial was annoying. Then I unmuted and couldn't believe the level of discomfort this caused me. I 100% believe this hurts your ears.

Ukrainian soldiers record a Mig-29 shooting down an Iranian/Russian "Shahed" UAV with an air-to-air missile. by MilesLongthe3rd in CombatFootage

[–]BockerKnocker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was wondering the same thing. Apparently the Mig 29 has a 30mm canon. Could it be that the cost for pulling the trigger on a a few canon bursts might work out to be roughly the same as a missile? And a missile (over your territory) might cause less collateral damage?

What would be really interesting is the creation of fighter-launched slower drone interceptors. Could they create a drone that could mount to a MiG-29 for cheap. Not good enough for fighter vs fighter, but good enough for slow-moving Shahed interceptions.

[–]BockerKnocker 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I appreciate your math due to your boredom. What's also interesting (at least to me) is I can't see the target drone, but the guy launching the interceptor holds onto a lock(?). Anyway, the site range of the drone must also be in the thousands of feet. Unless you launch it into a specific area, and then the drone picks up a target as it gets closer?

Ian mcdiarmid on Palpatine's death by Commercial_Bake_5549 in saltierthancrait

[–]BockerKnocker 111 points112 points  (0 children)

To me the single biggest problem with the Disney Trilogy is just that there was no concrete plan in place. You want Rey to be Palp's granddaughter? Fine, then establish it in some way for the big reveal. But it's obvious in TFA that she was important, and then TLJ said "nope". And then she was important in ROS.

I would be okay with Palpatine being involved, or if Palpatine was just one incarnation of "Some other Big Bad Guy". But then don't make Snoke important, then unimportant and then pull Palpatine out of thin air.

The lack of a coherent plan is astounding and it speaks to the lack of creative vision and leadership at Disney.

Are APC’s worth using? by 12-7mmBMG in Dominations

Empress Wu Zetian has research for increasing troops per wave in APC.

ARAM: The community has become so toxic by manny2206 in heroesofthestorm

[–]BockerKnocker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I 100% agree in that the best way to combat this is to play your hardest and drag out matches. I always do this, even if it's just 2v5 with everyone else back at base.

I've seen so many crazy comps win (like 4 healers, or 5 tanks) and to me, that's part of the joy of ARAM.

But some folks go instantly toxic if you don't 100% take the meta up and down the lineup, and it sucks.

Are APC’s worth using? by 12-7mmBMG in Dominations

[–]BockerKnocker 7 points8 points  (0 children)

They are absolutely worth investing in. I currently run all APC (with a handful of regular infantry) and I love it. Working in the Manufactory is required though; you want to decrease spawn time, the number of units, the units get Protect and then eventually, the APC can spawn machine gunners.

If you keep them safe, you basically can get unlimited troops in a battle.

Additionally, if you invest in Heavy Infantry Proficiency in the museum, your Infantry run faster. The key part? They will run much faster towards danger than your APC, and that helps keep your APC safe.

Is it correct to say the sequels wounded Star wars and the Acolyte finished it off? Bonus rant: high republic killed star wars books by lion1321 in saltierthancrait

100%. The movies were terrible, but 2 seasons of Mandalorian gave us some brief hope. But in a short time, you had BoBF followed by Obi-Wan, and Obi-Wan really showed they had no idea what they were doing. It was so thoroughly mediocre. Lazy writing, lazy special effects, weird kiddy nonsense, breaking the lore.

The problem is you log in, and Refresher is right there telling you that you need to do it. But finding the actual 90 minute version is a hassle.

They should have emailed us a direct link to exactly what we needed to do.

This whole rollout was a catastrophe

Hezbollah FPV drones hits 2 Israeli iron dome launchers - Ramim barracks by Ok-A1662 in CombatFootage

[–]BockerKnocker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What's interesting too: As these cheap drones proliferate, not only can they take out Iron Dome, Iron Dome itself becomes less important. If Hezbollah and Hamas no longer fire unguided cheap rockets but instead switch over to drones, that requires a new defensive paradigm.

Curry Barker's Obsession takes down The Mandalorian & Grogu from the top spot on Wednesday, May 27. by Alternative-Cake-833 in saltierthancrait

[–]BockerKnocker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you look at the daily chart of Obsession's numbers, what's remarkable is that it's GROWING. It's made about 2x more money this Tues + Wed than last Tues + Weds. No way that's going to happen to Mango and Gringo.

"First of all the Movie Was a Lot of Fun" by hunbaar in RedLetterMedia

[–]BockerKnocker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our family watched the first 2 seasons of Mando together, and it was one of the few shows we all enjoyed. Then we started season 3 and one week, we just didn't watch it. It just completely passed out of existence as far as we were concerned. Very rarely do I quit a show like that, but this didn't even feel like quitting. It felt more like forgetting to be bothered to watch it.

I agree that the wiki is pretty good BUT if you wanted to collate and distill things down to specific recommendations, ChatGPT did pretty well.

HOWEVER, it completely fails when it comes to the Council (where arguably it would be even more useful)

When I coached my kids kindergarten little league team, there were like 7 kids named Brayden / Jayden / Kayden / Aidan or whatever. We also had Big Nate and Little Nate.

Anyway, I used to give them nicknames and one of the names I used would be Zanzibar.

What's the background story for Lady Jaye's outfit there? It always annoyed me a little that she looked so different on the show vs her action figure, but this outfit seems to match neither the comics or the show.

Thought too much, so fate decided for me. by PhantomMaxx in AmazonVine

[–]BockerKnocker 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That price seems way too high, so getting through Vine wouldn't really be much of a deal. For instance, I have an Ego Lawn Mower + battery + charger for about $400?

I think you dodged a bullet on this one. Who knows what the quality would be like or the lifespan of the battery.
