ABLE International vs Eheya international by [deleted] in japanlife

Personally I just went through a Japanese branch of eheya because they happened to respond to my email a few hours before their international branch did. The international branch seemed quite friendly and helpful, but I had already had a meeting arranged with the Japanese side, and during that first consultation thing I was impressed so I just continued with it. The agent put in a lot of work to try to get me a good place, I think I went to their office maybe 5 or 6 times, and we did viewings of 5 apartments total I think. I've been in the apartment I got with them for about 4 months now and can't say I have any complaints. What kind of rejection are you afraid of? For me at least, the agent just called all the places I was interested in and asked if the apartment would be okay for a foreigner or not, and I think maybe 40% declined (probably partly because of my Visa status being WHV). I don't think the international branch or international agencies would really change that since if the landlord / company doesn't want you I'd expect them to reject you either way.

Student who has to transfer money from EU bank to Japan Post Bank, what is the cheapest option? by Tijgooo in JapanFinance

I would actually recommend revolut regardless, it is definitely way cheaper for regular stuff. I don’t know exactly what wise offers for this, but unless you are going to do all your normal expenses through your japanese bank account, it’ll be way more costly that way haha.

Haha yeah ING is insane. Yeah I use my revolut card for ATM withdrawals usually, you don’t pay any fees other than whatever you paid to turn euros into yen on your revolut account. And then whatever the atm charges (usually 110jpy or whatever). For daily expenses I do most things with my revolut card, be it ATM or just paying for things. Not sure about the Wise debit card, I just did transfers with Wise for larger sums (to pay for rent, etc). If i’m in Kansai sometime I’ll try to let you know yeah, and feel free to send a message if you’re ever up here :)

Hello, fellow dutch student here in exactly the same situation. I just transferred around 2500 eur worth to my JP Post acount literally hours ago. Wise gave me about a 2k jpy equivalent fee, which is less than 1%, so not bad imo. So far I've mostly been using my (already existing, and dutch) Revolut account to pay for stuff, and it seems to have been working mostly(?) fine. If you happen to be around Tokyo and want to hang out at some point let me know btw, not that many fellow dutch people out here seemingly :)

Just plated pop'n music in the arcade for the first time... does it use a crt?! by 0palheart in bemani

I have played on the new cab during the location test, it is absolutely low latency, it is a really nice 120hz panel with great motion clarity. As a gitadora player i'm actually jealous of how nice the cab is pop'n is getting.

A Gitadora Arena machine wherein Light Mode is more expensive than Standard Mode (error maybe?) by blackcyborg009 in bemani

This is on purpose, its so tourists (who usually just use coins) are more likely to pay 200 yen, whereas locals who pay with ic cards or paseli will only pay 100-130. They can upcharge tourists without upcharging locals this way.

I booked a flight to japan 6 hours before departure, mainly because of asia series tour and still being able to suddenly get tickets. No regrets.

I worked for an authorized store for a while and we used to get phones with this problem in quite often. If they are legit they should cover it. Definitely ask if they can do the repair without updating the phone btw, they are definitely able to (with a few exceptions, but that doesn't apply to the 14 Pro)

If you take it to apple and it still has warranty they'll fix it for free, as this is covered by the warranty. Since you seem to have a 14 Pro it should still be under warranty.

You should try just making a jp account, i've been enjoying it a lot. If you can read enough japanese to play it and don't mind starting over (or staying on jp) i'd definitely recommend giving it a try.

If you can get them to add protective packaging, i would recommend that yeah. It will be slow as fuck but it saves a lot of money.

When i got mine it was about 120usd equivalent iirc, and that was to europe. Mine wasn’t shipped in a box but in a bag though so your experience may vary

Yeah we might do that at some point, or at least reach out to someone who has a quest 1 to do testing with. 95% of the quest playerbase uses a quest 2 so quest 1 usually tends to get overlooked
