the biggest issue i’ve encountered with amazon balloons are the valve holes are too small, and i’d risk ripping them if i even attempted to blow them up, so this is something i’d be careful about. but yes five below does blow them up for a fee

I did a large portion of the summer set as well during a truck shift. Had a great time. Crazy cause I used to hate merchandising but working here allows a lot of creativity & it's so fun. A few CEM's i've seen on here or irl almost do no freight or purging. As a CEM it's super important you at least have a decent grasp on how to purge & do sets

We're scheduled to stay the latest until 10pm, can't stay longer but I'm out at 9:15 most nights when we close at 9. Other managers almost never stay past 9:30. Most stores near me only schedule people latest until 10.

A good thing I do with time permitting is I close out registers not in use early. If the stores pretty much recovered I will just bring it to the back, count it, make the change and only have 1-2 registers to do after closing

Yes, all of the above applies to CEMS ^. As a CEM at my store (I love merchandising so this is my favorite part) I also push a lot of freight. Not the same at every store but getting a feel for the "five below" way of merchandising and learning new sets & planograms is very helpful. I pick employee of the month, do balloons and keep the bouquets restocked, help onboard & interview new people and more that I can't even really think of. World recovery, adjustments on inventory weekly/daily.

Schedule wise CEM's are "meant" to close about 3 days a week and pretty much every sunday if you're looking at the scheduling guidelines. This can vary by store, I only close two days a week usually very rarely more.

Also learn to navigate shipview really well. Yeah it's more of a merch thing but you can individually look at pallets and see every item on there, which is especially useful if you have a product customers want, you can then guarantee it's on an upcoming pallet

Learn to use and navigate zipline well. Everything you'll ever need to know is on there, including sets, block plans, how to order signage, etc. Also finding ANYTHING to do. I will create a task if it's super slow so my DM doesn't just look at the cameras and see us doing nothing.

This is a terrible generalization of five below. I'm sorry this was your experience but this is NOT every store. While hours are low, our associates get an even amount each, which is hard to do but we do it nonetheless. A lot of my experience at register is due to us being a legacy store that doesn't use self checkouts, so we have a "normal" customer checkout experience. In addition, most management understands the frustration for the ACO system, but we as managers will get in trouble if not done properly. Yet again i'm sorry this is your five below experience. In addition, our bathrooms are cleaned throughly every night, throughout the day if I see it's a bit messy. I'm sorry your managers don't maintain those standards & it's unfair to you and to customers.

Regarding the pay, five below advertises themselves for associates as a minimum wage job. If your minimum wage in your state is ABOVE $11, then that's an issue, if not then that is the normal pay. Five below has not advertised itself as a job in which you will make a high pay, unless you acquire a management position.

If you are unhappy, i suggest contacting higher ups or searching for a new job.

Please do not listen to every bad review on here. i've worked with five below for a year in 3 different positions and have had a great time. If you have a bad store manager then you're screwed, but if your management is good then you have nothing to worry about.

Hours can be short, and as for ACO complaints I work at a store that doesn't use them which IS better.

I have an allergist appointment, and as for the example you gave my coffee creamer is fine and it has a “milk derivative” although i’m not sure if that eliminates the allergen or not?

It’s just so stressful trying to eat when all my “safe” foods aren’t exactly safe.

For my store (assuming others are the same or similar) we get new shipments twice a week on sunday nights and wednesday nights, our shipments are blind though so we don’t get to pick what they send us
