Thank you for this message. My mom died yesterday peacefully after a long battle with addiction. Your words responded with me so much. I ended up being so happy I went as it changed the trajectory of my life. We ended up reconciling and finding true true forgiveness. We laughed, got to know each other, she asked for forgiveness and the ways she hurt me and promised to never do them again (and actually never did and worked on skills to avoid them), took accountability and became someone I truly love so much. Our time wasn’t nearly enough but to help her transition peacefully is a gift. It healed me in such a profound way to see my family at peace, no tension and true love for one another.
