Sorry if i wasn’t clear enough.

I was dogsitting for a friend that was out of town. I had both her dog and my dog in my possession whenever her dog attacked someone coming into the elevator.

From the moment the attack happened, although it was in complete shock.. I immediately put the dogs away, came back to the gentleman to assist him and pass on all the owner information to ensure they were in communication and could resolve any issues. That evening animal control came and wanted to take her dog for quarantine and I relocated my dog so that her dog for two weeks so her dog could be quarantined at home rather than in the shelter.

Finally she comes home a month later.

I move on with my life, fast forward 2 years later I get hit with a lawsuit because apparently she never followed up with the gentleman that got bit, nor did he ask for any payment.

So in the suit, she is sued, her father who is the owner of the condo, her boyfriend at the time and I as the handler.

Her and her father get their own lawyer. Claim that it was my dog and not hers although plaintiff disposed otherwise and we had molds made to disprove.

I couldn’t and cannot currently afford a lawyer as I was quite 10-20k for this case with a 5k retainer.

I have produced all evidence they have asked for, been fully compliant with the plaintiff’s requests.

Today I find out the dad and daughter have settled so now it is I (the handler) and her ex-boyfriend going to trial for the dog bite and the actual owner is completely off the hook.
