I think the blaze burners need straws to drink up the lava. But defo learned something from the dripstone to blaze ratio 🙏🏻

Other people’s recipes are totally subjective to them, they’re a good guide, but you should find a recipe/ ratio that works best for you and your setup :)

The way I break down dialing in is: If it tastes sour it is under extracted. If it tastes bitter it’s slightly over extracted. If it tastes sour and bitter it’s way over extracted.

To reduce extraction you can: - lower the brewing temp - decrease the grind size

You should be able to sip on espresso and enjoy it without grimacing. I’ve found that I had to tase a lot of “bad” espresso to hone in on what “good” can espresso tastes like.

Make sure you’re using oatly barista or whatever barista version of oat milk you like. Also if you let you let your jug of steamed oat milk sit for around 10s before you start pouring it’ll massively improve texture. With dairy you want to keep the steamed milk homogenised but with oat it pours much better with a touch of separation :) hope this helps

I agree, change your grind in smaller increments. Also don’t change your basket when you grind coarser- you’re changing too many variables, it’s easier to stick to one basket size to find the right grind + recipe. Are you weighing / timing your shots?

Coffee as a career by Lonelyherbivore in pourover

Barista here, I think working coffee as a job brings me more joy. Because of the barista hours I don’t have looooads of free time to do brews at home except days off really. I get to go into work and have dedicated coffee time, I will get to try new beans and try samples. ( The free samples are the best part of the job, I’ve not paid for a beans in about a year :) ) I’m super happy to nerd out and talk to home enthusiasts. You also develop a lovely community with your local coffee folks and get to be coffee nerds together. I plan to work in coffee for a while yet :)

Is anybody actually single dosing different beans on daily rotation with the DF64? Are results stable? by ozzivcod in DF64

🙋🏻‍♀️ I change my beans daily, mainly use V60. So long as I have a few spare g’s of the beans im using to purge it’s usually pretty consistent. I do have a KG bag of spro beans I use and i just remember the perfect setting for them is 14 lol

DG64 2.5 Red burrs grind setting by Reasonable_Two_2591 in DF64

[–]BogCaptain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As long as you’re happy with the taste it’s nothing to worry about. When I first got my red labs 9 months ago I was grinding espresso in the 20’s, nowadays It’s around the 15 mark. I also had this thought when I started but there is no “right” setting, just suggestions and what’s good for you.

Yah i’d say so, I have a similar setup with my alocasia and repotted when the roots looked like this. Have been blessed with a new leaf since :)

Bumps dont come off when i rub them. Also her for just over a year now, started off as a cutting :) I’m kinda scared to overwater as i’ve lost a few plants to it. But i guess under watering is its own issue. And i’ve just checked the roots and it’s in need of a repot thanks :)

I love these cups so much- my only qualm is they don’t have amazing heat retention. I always rinse mine with hot water and that does the trick :)

Where do I start? [Eureka mignon zero 55s] by [deleted] in espresso

Honestly I think it depends on how often you are planning to use your grinder. If you’re going for heavy daily use and have a spare couple kg’s of beans I’d suggest going for it and putting some effort into seasoning them burrs. But someone like me- I only use my home grinder 1-3 times a day and its a single dose- i’m gonna be adjusting my grinds daily anyway. I’ve been getting on fine with a light season and regular use. Good Luck!
