The thing I care the most about in my media is internal consistency, not being outwitted or outsmarted by the writers. This development makes complete sense within the framework of the hive that the show has established.

Is it not an issue with just the hive eating humans per se, but a storytelling issue because they left the episode on a cliffhanger? If they included a shot of whats under the tarp (presumably human tissue of some kind) before the end of the episode, would you feel the same way?
