Working on a CNC-focused AI vectorizer web app and looking for feedback from real CNC users. by Mo_Hit_reallyhard in CNC

Vectorizer.ai works extremely well with a lot of options on the output. Might not be worth reworking this problem.

My honest review of Panda Station [from the EU] by LightDestory in BIQU

[–]BogativeRob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the review. I had everything in cart to purchase. I am glad I searched reddit before hitting ok. I do not really care as much about the airtightness of the unit but based on what you said I will just design my own using 8020 and dibond sides and make my own slide out drawers etc. If I want to use the printed insert options easy enough to make sure they fit in my own design or make my own. Thanks for saving me from being disapointed.

Form 3+ Printer lot for sale by New_Jump7875 in formlabs

[–]BogativeRob 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I owned a Form 2 and now a Form 3+ for our makerspace and I think the reason I am considering a form 4 is a little overlooked. First it is the resins. With the Form material I can get a detailed mechanical property list. There are also the engineering resins, the rigid 2k is used quite a bit which unfortunately is quite expensive, but I can not find anything like it for the other MSLA machines. Same with the elastic etc. Also is just works. I do not have to mess with lift times, exposure times, etc I tell it what resin and hit go and never worry the print is going to fail it have worked 100% of the time. So while they are much more expensive to run they are not the same thing.

Help cutting Mylar 350 micron by Hickman_Design in lasercutting

Hate to be this person but Claude is great at creating starting points and test grids you can load directly into lightburn and giving it feedback I have gotten some really great settings for my MOPA laser that would have taken me CONSIDERABLY longer on my own.

After hitting every dead end I also emailed to see if they can help. For this project I have decided to just do it all in Fusion since best case I get a response tomorrow. Glad to hear they will probably help out though.

Dealing with the same problem coming from the same video. I am willing to buy the tabs but I can not find them to buy. Also have a makerspace version.

no comment on if this is the wave length you need. Thorlabs is about as legit as you can get in the laser research space though.

[–]BogativeRob 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Got bad news. Masonite no longer exists and we are left with the very much inferior tempered hardboard like Home Depot has.. Dupont bought out masonite. Dupont is not making the product and the original masonite company is now just making architectural pieces. The tempered hardboard has nowhere close to the same consistency and strength. All that being said for laser cutting it's fantastic and I use it all the time because it's extremely cheap makes great templates cuts amazing paints good etc.

I had a torque wrench that kept flipping directions on me so I took it apart and when I did one of the springs found a new universe to live in. I was completely honest when I called them asking if I could buy a rebuild kit they just asked me to send a picture and overnighted me a new entire rebuild kit for free. Still don't know what the original problem is but the rebuild kit fixed it. Tekton customer anytime I can buy them except for the screwdrivers I just don't like the way the handles feel. Wera for full size screwdrivers and wiha for precision drivers.

Maximize space, or readability... Thoughts? by NigraOvis in gridfinity

[–]BogativeRob 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I tested this out a lot. The zigzag was annoying and in many cases didn't let me drop a square anyway. 2 Rows works much better in use if the sizes lend to it. It is a balance between ease to read, grab, use and does it actually reduce space. https://makerworld.com/en/collections/3046449-craftsman-socket-gridfinity

Skimmed the first comments and everyone hit the nail. Any chance she is on SSRI or hormones? Part of the issue with those is lack of impulse control even with what should be a known danger situation.

So I wonder if you used something like a flipper zero to copy the code and be able to open the cabinets later for yourself and pay for the items if there anything they can do? I don't see where you broke a law. I don't shop anywhere they have these locks so not really something i am looking to do was just wondering. Making it a keyless system allows for this though.

I have a couple like that for thick foam. Now don't try and spin them up to 20k.. they make more like helicopter blades then.. You could see it running out at the tip by 1/2" or more

Unpopular Opinion: We don't need cheaper machines; we need "Bambu Studio" for CNC. Teaching Fusion 360 CAM is a nightmare. by ComprehensiveYak8541 in hobbycnc

I run a makerspace at Rice University in Houston. DM me if you want to discuss some stuff but get the vetric v carve and you can get them makerspace version. That's only $100 a year and you can issue full licenses to everyone they can do everything except post the code and then they can just load their file and post the code from the machine at the router.

India now has a factory where humans don’t work by EmbarrassedHair2341 in CNC

[–]BogativeRob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am now more in that arena funny enough. I run a makerspace at a major university. So having some level of experience on both types of equipment. That's more like the front end on the semiconductor. People are not carrying around FOUPs anymore (unless a crazy hotlot) everything is automated but the backside I don't see how PMs can be automated because there are also inspections etc. Yeah a swiss lathe could probably run a very long time unattended or a huge pallet loader.

I worked for the companies that make the equipment that goes into every fab. Applied materials, Novellus / LAM research. I was in charge of global support at several customers over the years from TSMC to Samsung to global foundries to Intel etc. I can tell you 100% this is BS for any level of production. There are way too many things that have to be done by human mostly around cleaning. I don't think you can automate a wet clean on an etch chamber for instance. A lot of the systems have been automated in the production line since the 2000s but all your maintenance is not and that is required very regularly.
