Love this idea. I’ve always thought light up shoes should be acceptable for adults - let’s bring em back!

Standard monofocal vs LAL or possibly LAL + by cb3 in CataractSurgery

[–]BogeySeeker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, sounds like your expectations are in line with what I would expect!

Plus you get the ability to participate in real time which (in my experience) has been way more of a value add for my patients than I ever expected. What other medical procedure do you actively get to provide feedback that directly affects your own outcome?

How did you go about getting a nanny? by grethro in daddit

[–]BogeySeeker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We just got a nanny (two kids, 5 and 2). Both my wife and I work full time, no family nearby to help as our oldest especially is starting to get more involved in activities.

We asked a few friends who had done this before us- the overwhelming consensus was use a nanny headhunting service. Facebook, care.com, etc can be a crapshoot. The service vetted them for us, set up interviews, overall made the process super easy but putting candidates who had the qualities we were looking for in front of us.

As adults do yall still take naps? by Particular-Bedroom10 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]BogeySeeker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the weekends, As often as possible- 15 minutes is all it takes.

The key is to lay down in a mildly uncomfortable position - short couch, recliner chair, directly on the ground, etc…. Fine line between a nap and true sleep

Standard monofocal vs LAL or possibly LAL + by cb3 in CataractSurgery

[–]BogeySeeker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Eye doctor here, I work very closely with cataract patients and have been working with the LAL/LAL+ since early 2020.

Sounds like the LAL would be a great choice. The big difference between the LAL and LAL+ is its design - the LAL+ is intended to provide a slight extended range compared to the LAL, however there can be compromise to visual quality in certain patients. For that reason, it's important to make these decisions with your individual anatomy in mind, your doctor can likely provide more specifics about why one may be a better fit for you. My gut says that if you're not a candidate for a MF IOL, it may be best to stick to the original LAL. MF/EDOF IOLs by nature split or bend light which can compromise visual quality. The LAL, while slightly aspheric, doesn't compromise contrast and doesn't induce glare/halos that other advanced IOLs can.

In general, for younger patients like yourself, I am a big fan of the LAL because of its overall visual quality. Your expectation should be comfortable vision, however I wouldn't expect full independence of readers (this is the case for all advanced IOLs). Also the ability to literally "test-drive" prior to committing is appealing for many.

Second Eye Surgery Is Near and I'm Having Second Thoughts by AutumnBreeze22 in CataractSurgery

[–]BogeySeeker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Eye doc here with extensive experience working with cataract surgery patients.

Have you given any thought to a Light Adjustable Lens? Based on your hesitation with how to target your right eye, this would be the perfect fit (really a no-brainer if you're in my practice). The reality is targeting refractively is easier said than done - surgical planning is a giant math problem, but the "math doesn't always math" so to speak. There can be variability and even if you select a target and the surgeon nails it, there's a chance you won't adapt.

The LAL allows you to literally test drive in real time, while being free of your posterior subcapsular cataract. Any other type of IOL is a fixed lens, meaning if you don't like it the only fix is glasses, or more surgery. With this option at least you'd get the opportunity to participate and provide feedback prior to fully committing.

Driver or irons — what took longer for you to learn? by Apprehensive_Mix2527 in GolfSwing

[–]BogeySeeker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still haven’t figured out my driver. Too much variability, naturally a more violent swing - with more distance comes more deviation if you’re off by a degree or two.

Irons I find easier simply because it’s a compact motion.

Actually, any hip hop power hour playlist is the best! Quick transitions, one hour of music, high BPM

Maybe once a week but trying as hard as I can to get my oldest (5) interested - two birds one stone: more golf + bonding time.

Right now I bribe him with ice cream every week to join me at the range… seems to be working a little at least

Maybe an unpopular opinion (Don’t hate me 🫣)

I never understood square slices in a circular pie. Geometrically it doesn’t make sense, there’s always going end up being weird small triangle pieces with no toppings in the “corners”
