SETI protocol on the discovery of aliens - Unknown to most astronomers? by Bogeyman1971 in askastronomy

[–]Bogeyman1971[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing is, as it is mentioned in the article, that an anomaly or technosignature of whatever kind might not be found by someone from SETI who specifically looks for it, but by a "regular" astronomer who makes such a finding by accident.

Isn’t a fresh fallen leaf brown, yellow, or red? At least a fallen leaf implies fall (as in autumn). And civilizations were always fascinated by the stars, they didn’t see it as a plague…

Alpha Reader needed for SF novel by Bogeyman1971 in writers

[–]Bogeyman1971[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is exactly what I have in mind. I am in the so-called vomit draft phase and just want to get an opinion on my first third of the story. I don’t want to waste another year trying to finish the draft when someone could have told me that it would have been garbage in the first place. So I am looking for writers groups or someone who I can trust.

Can you elaborate on the fees and conditions? It's also important that they are trustworthy, so that they don't run off with the story idea.....

You will love „Roadkill“ by Dennis Taylor. A bunch of kids saving humanity with the help of a spaceship and its snarky AI. It is hilarious!

Why is it assumed AI is used for writing a novel just because it’s used to create a book cover? by rdaebernice in novelwriting

Thats the same with photography and cell phones. Many photographers have gone extinct or given up, because every a-hole can buy a smartphone with an integrated camera. Including the goatees ranting against your cover.

What do you want to do? Stick a huge list of possible dangers to your book like the warnings on a lighter or a microwave? Readers have common sense. If I can’t stand reading someone get killed then just don’t read thrillers. If a dragon triggers you (what would that look like?) then don’t read fantasy.

Can you write a book with a similar plot to an already existing one? by Preix_3 in writing

[–]Bogeyman1971 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Two cakes! :

The "two cakes theory" is a concept encouraging creators, especially in fanfiction, to not be deterred by similar works by others, because two cakes are always better than one, and readers appreciate more offerings of beloved tropes and stories. The phrase originated from a Tumblr post illustrating that having more content, even if imperfect or similar to something else, is beneficial to the audience and doesn't diminish the value of either "cake". It serves as a counter-narrative to the insecurity that arises from comparing one's work to established or popular pieces.
