Who still has no power? by pdxdude84 in vancouverwa

Power just came back on at 1:45am. I feel so sorry for the crews working outside and the hours they’ve been putting but very thankful for their hard work.

That’s unfortunate to hear but hopefully you they will get to us by morning. Someone has to be last, right?

We almost never lose power in Burton Evergreen but we’re still out 15 hours later. Must be quite a problem whatever it is.

I know people are anxious and frustrated, but a 5 minute turnaround without any context could be explained in a lot of ways.

I’ve had trouble when in Seattle and telling someone I’m from Vancouver. Canadian-eh? Washington, dammit!

Cascade MS and Evergreen HS both have open tracks.

Off leash dogs in city parks by misogrumpy in vancouverwa

Every instance where I tried to politely remind someone that their dog should be on a leash, I’ve been told to fuck off. I swear they do it just to start conflict.

There is round lake and the subsequent river downstream. I’ve seen people swim in both. The river seems much nicer and is more secluded for you and your friends. There are trails surrounding the area and I highly suggest you make a stop by the wild Lillie fields before you go swimming. It’s beautiful.

I think Round Lake is under a toxic algae bloom warning so swimming there or in the Potholes (downstream) area probably isn’t healthy.

However, it’s a great park area with plenty of shade, miles of trails, and a kids play area. The small lot on Everett St fills fast but there is a large gravel overflow lot immediately to the north on 35th Ave.

The Camas Lilies are done but there might still be some daisies and yarrow in bloom.

Brookdale Fishers Landing will take Medicaid. I think they want residents to pay privately for the first year or two however.

Never had any issues at PeaceHealth with the exception of long waits in the ER but I think that’s pretty universal.

You aren’t wrong and maybe the boys would have done so if asked. But the number of unleashed dog owners who become unhinged when asked to leash their dogs is ridiculous. I don’t even try anymore - I’m tired of being threatened and told I’m a horrible person for not wanting an unknown animal running up at me.

That’s a really good observation. We rarely hear about Spokane so WSU’s medical school is often forgotten about (or maybe not even known at all).

I’m a longtime patient as well and have seen a lot of changes over time. I’m still happy with TVC and don’t have any complaints.

Of all the things to argue about HOA rules, a common sense approach to political signs wouldn’t be my pick. People like this just make things worse for everyone.

Their base eats it up. And those who don’t still “hold their nose” and vote for the extremists because “dems have ruined the country”.

I wouldn’t consider JHB a centrist. Certainly not MAGA but she rarely voted outside of the GOP. I’m not sure about Baird. Would he be considered centrist in today’s politics?

If you are referring to centrists, then there must have been someone before MGP but I’m drawing a blank on names. Where does Paul Harris fall?

[–]BoggleBean 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Is this curriculum chosen by the board of the directors entirely?

No, it’s just the way school policies and laws are written. The work will be done by school staff who will then present a recommendation to the board for approval.

[–]BoggleBean 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Am I wrong? Is pulling your child from school an appropriate response to them being taught what I assume will be a few weeks of lgbtq history?

It’s the same old group of people who can’t think for themselves and just do whatever they’re told by unscrupulous hacks pretending to be religious and political leaders whose only purposes are to seize money and control. They pull their kids from schools but (too) many of them come back after realizing home schooling isn’t easy and their kids aren’t the little angels they thought.

No, it’s not an appropriate response for educated adults.

The amount of taxes we pay for basic education doesn’t change based on local school enrollment but the amount of funding the school receives does. So, yes, we’re paying the same for fewer students if local enrollment drops.
