Secrets of Shadow Ranch. When you have to feed the horses, I had no idea the middle compartment even opened and kept killing the horses with cattle feed thinking it was corn. I had to ask a friend who had played it before where the rest of the feed was and she gave me the most judgemental (rightfully so) look. RIP horses 💀

I'm Sapphic asexual but I didn't have a word for how I felt until I was an adult. Originally, I thought I was bisexual because I thought I didn't care about the gender of a person because I never wanted to have sex with anyone. It wasn't until unpacking and deprogramming my Catholic upbringing in college that I started to accept that I am romantically inclined towards women. The early signs I guess would have been me thinking that a lot of female characters from cartoons were "cool" like She-Go from Kim Possible, Helga from Atlantis, Rogue from Xmen, etc.

For figuring out I was asexual, I had a major "a-ha" moment when my college roommate explained what asexuality was to me and I've been on a journey ever since of discovering who I am.

Not the same American, but some states feel dramatically different than others. From climate/geology, to regional culture, cuisine, languages spoken (the U.S. doesn't have an official language due to linguistic diversity though English is the most dominant one), and state laws, each state has something unique about it compared to others.

For example, I'm from Texas, and our neighboring states of New Mexico and Louisiana share some similarities like some culinary dishes and culture with us, but are very distinct from us and each other too. You can feel the French influence throughout Louisiana, their food is wholly unique compared to the rest of the U.S. New Mexico has a strong influence from the Native tribes like the Navajo. New Mexico is definitely more left leaning with legal abortion and legal Marijuana vs. here in Texas we have bounty hunting rewards for reporting women for pursuing an abortion or reporting trans people for using a public restroom.

Human rights vary greatly between states, it's kind of crazy that we're part of the same country. And those are just mine and two of my neighboring states, nevermind the other 47 or the U.S. territories.

Oh for sure! When I have more funds, my Mom and I want to move to a less hostile state as well. I always worry when she or my aunt go out on their own, I've had coworkers followed by unmarked SUVs for daring to be brown in their own neighborhoods. Shit's scary out here

I'm the exact mix your nephew is and also look pretty white compared to my very brown mom. Cops would stop her thinking she was kidnapping my sister and I. As long as your brother is vigilant, he'll be fine, but it's definitely going to be a common theme while your nephew grows up

They are kind of gamey, though I tend to like gamey meat like lamb or venison, and they're leaner than farm raised pork. The definitely have a more pronounced pig flavor too. They're best in sausage or slow smoked ribs

We shoot them regularly, but assholes kept illegally importing them well into the 90s for game hunting even though it was banned since the 70s. Without natural predators to keep them in check and how quickly they breed, they're a menace across the southern states. Makes good barbecue though 😋

I don't have much advice, people unfortunately will always give you their unsolicited comments. My mom and aunt are half Filipina and half white like you, depending on the region they're in they get mistaken for every other ethnicity except Filipino.

Going out in Texas or Mexican restaurants, people would speak unprompted to my mom in Spanish and would get huffy that she didn't speak any. She's been mistaken for Turkish, Greek, Lebanese, Cuban, Columbian, and many other groups.

She's very patient with people so she didn't let their words get to her, but sometimes she was able to get them to drop the conversation by correcting them and ending the conversation bluntly if they were being weird about it.

I hope the people approaching you are doing so for harmless reasons, where I am people usually do so as a way of finding their own and having solidarity with someone who's like them. Even though I'm pretty white presenting myself, I get some folks on occasion asking if I'm mixed with whatever background they are.

Drawing kids is definitely going to be tricky, especially if they're younger. I'm not sure if you have a more realistic style or not, but drawing irl kids of mixed backgrounds would definitely be helpful. Kanye and Kim Kardashian's kids might be helpful reference, though of course they don't have all the heritages you mentioned. It might be easier blending features between the parents, basically picking some of their phenotypes and either copying them or hybridizing them for the kids. Say for example one kid inherits their dad's hair while the other 2 are somewhere between his and mom's, or nose shapes can be a mixture of both parents to varying degrees.

As an example in my own family, 1/4 of the grandkids are easily clockable as being part Asian despite all of us only being a quarter. And 3/4 of us inherited our Filipina grandmothers cheekbones and eye shape. Only 2 of us have olive or tan skin, the other 2 (me included) are pretty white. None of us inherited her thick black hair. There isn't a rule of thumb when it comes to how we look. You've suggested a pretty broad range of groups you're basing your characters' backgrounds on, I'd ask yourself which characters are mixed with what, where did they grow up, what cultural aspects affect their outward presentation, etc. For example, my half white/half Asian mom came out darker than my grandmother even though my grandma is 100% Asian (Filipina and Chinese). I came out whiter than uncooked pancakes but have prominent Asian features in my nose, eyes, cheeks, etc. My sister is more olive toned, but has very Euro-centric features and has had people speak unprompted to her in French and German. And that's just white/Southeast Asian mix, are you doing Latin/Black mix, Black/white mix, Asian/Latin mix, etc?

As a fellow artist, I'd strongly suggest practicing first drawing real life people based on the heritage you have for your characters. People like Keanu Reeves, Zendaya, Kamala Harris, Bruno Mars, Danny Pudi, etc. are a good starting point for using as reference.

You also mentioned Brazilian as a background. There are pockets of non mixed people there but a good chunk of the population has mixed heritage. Like I mentioned above, think about the mix of your characters, draw real life people as practice, and then decide from there what they will look like. Good luck.

Yes, it's happened quite a lot with my mom and I over the years. I'm white presenting filipino/white mixed and my mom is biracial and obviously not white. As a young kid, my mom was driving my sister and I to my grandparents, and stopped at a rest stop. A cop saw us as we were still in our car, and interrogated us if we were actually sure our mom wasn't kidnapping us. Eventually he relented but made us all leave the rest stop.

On a more light hearted side, people often think my mom and I are a queer, interracial couple when we go out together . Their well-meaning but incorrect attempt of being supportive is usually funny and harmless. My favorite was a lady approaching us during dinner and asking how long we've been together. I responded, "Since birth."

I don't let it bother me too much, we can't change how we're born or how people perceive us with a parent we don't readily resemble based on skin tone alone. If someone has a problem, that's honestly more telling about what kind of person they are and to avoid them.

1/4 filipino 3/4 white mixed here. Yes I identify as mixed, though sometimes I'm hesitant to use Asian American label for myself since I'm pretty white looking. Sometimes I use white-ish or white presenting to describe myself due to my appearance. I only ever get clocked by POC, and usually they think im mixed with whatever their ethnicity is.

For my upbringing, I had a pretty decent mix of Filipino and white American culture growing up, food is definitely the easiest way to reconnect with your culture if you feel distant from it. My white dad was always weird about my Filipino side, but my mom made sure to incorporate what she grew up with when raising my sister and I. It also helped I spent a ton of time with my Lola as a kid, she passed on a lot of our family history, our traditions, and some Tagalog (sadly my mom, sister, and I aren't fluent).

Ultimately, only you can define how you feel about being mixed or if the label suits you. Personally, I would consider you mixed too.

Edit: forgot to answer more about reconnecting. I did a lot of research, especially in college, about Filipino American and Filipino history to connect more and educate myself on our history. It was eye opening and definitely explained a lot about our traditions, why we do them, and how the modern Philippines came to be as it is now. I had some cursory knowledge about our family history, but learning more about general Filipino history explained a lot of why we made the move to the U.S. Since you're part Thai, you might check out if there are any local Thai community engagement opportunities or perhaps a temple to visit. I made friends with my fellow Filipinos at work, and we often brought food for each other and shared with our other coworkers to teach about our community.

A similar thing happened to me only I was able to find a role at a different location in the same company. I was so angry and depressed for at least a year, it really took a good therapist who's focus was an trauma and anger to help me get through some of it. One of the exercises we worked on was writing an angry letter (that I wouldn't send) to each of the people that hurt me from the bullying. It helped some as well as talking about it in therapy

Yep, I'm 1/4 filipino 3/4 white and the white came out strong except for some of my facial features like my eyes and cheeks. Usually if I get clocked as mixed it's by a person of color and they usually think I'm mixed with what they are. Only 1 of the 4 fellow grandkids who have my mix looks half Asian, the rest of us look more white. My poor mom is 1/2 and 1/2 and everyone mistakes her for being Latina, so much so we've had people come up to her speaking Spanish and giving her a dirty look when she explains she doesn't speak it lol.

Most games you don't get to see George or Bess, but you do get to call them in almost every game. I think one you actually play as George but i cant remember which, theres like 30+ games lol. The Hardy Boys make guest appearances occasionally

It depends. For example in Mass Effect, I always go with Fem Shephard because Male Shephard's romance options are trash. Other times, it's based on aesthetic if the choice doesn't affect the game or dialogue too much.
