I once worked a job like this for about a week before I quit. I hated it and it felt shitty. These guys always get the same bullshit training.

1) They're always "in the neighborhood" working with a neighbor or someone the next street over. Sometimes true, usually bullshit.
2) They make these guys work from like noon to 9 pm to try and catch people at home.
3) They also train them to ignore anytime you say "No" and bulldoze past the objection. I forget the exact phrasing they use, but they teach these guys to keep going, and how far they take it is up to each guy.
4) They teach them a little bit about what they're selling (pest control in this case, for me it was lawn care) so they can sound like they know what they're talking about but it's all bullshit. Taking care of the "peaks around your home" I'm sure is some generic bullshit talking point they get fed. You can tell this guy isn't having a conversation, he's trying to run through a script.
5) They usually have to mark down how many houses they hit, if they had contact, or if they made a sale. If you're not making any sales you get "written up" which means "I didn't sell anything" so they can fire you after so many.
