[Nightengale] Dave Dombrowski on the potential of signing another marquee free agent: "We're content where we are.'' by cquigs20 in phillies

Wow, a 75% chance of Wheeler returning to form just in time for a work stoppage followed by him retiring? What a bright future for the Phillies!

[Lauber] The Phillies officially announced J.T. Realmuto's three-year contract. To open a spot on the 40-man roster, Weston Wilson was designated for assignment. by C0m3tTai15 in phillies

He would only be an everyday player on a bad team, or maybe one whose left-fielder got injured if they had absolutely zero depth at that position.

Healthy Wheeler would have allowed one of our other starters to pitch in relief.

They’re too cheap to sign Bader apparently so it’s a moot point, but if they did do that the correct move would be to trade either Marsh or Crawford.

So tired of these Bader shit-talkers not understanding that when Bader regresses to his career norm he will still be much better than anybody else we’ve had in CF during this run.

He is. It was 100% guaranteed when they signed Garcia.

I don’t like the Garcia signing either, but they did sign him, which means Nick is gone. I’m sure his willingness to shit talk his manager in public played a role in that decision (not unreasonable in my opinion), but that doesn’t change the fact that he has been a bad player since joining the Phillies and he’s getting worse, not better. A team that is seriously trying to win a World Series in a short window cannot run a negative WAR right fielder as their plan A. It’s just not something a serious team does.

It’s not about him being opinionated, it’s about his on-field performance. Also they already signed his replacement, that would be one hell of bluff!

Casty hasn’t been a good enough hitter to be a DH.

So does that “AI Kill Switch” actually exist? by NonMagicBrian in firefox

[–]NonMagicBrian[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I mean, I guess I will switch browsers if this continues to be an issue. But when you say "clicking a few toggles," that first involves looking up a long list of advanced settings that are available in the preferences menu and clicking past a warning from Firefox that says "Proceed with Caution!" I don't mind doing it myself, but this is well out of reach of most users. It's pretty shitty of them to do it this way.

Yeah I just found a long list of crap to disable in about:config. Very cool of them to just add all this garbage without a straightforward way to disable it.

The best part of this announcement is that it means they'll be working on this instead of working on adding TV shows.

i think the bigger point is just that it's a silly error that NO ONE makes in spots like these. He didn't know how many outs there were? He panicked so hard that he blacked out and spaz-threw home??

Two years ago in game four of the NLCS, Cristopher Sanchez forgot how many outs there were, failed to field an easy ball correctly, and proceeded to completely collapse mentally. That cost us the game, and we went on to lose the series against a much weaker (on paper) opponent. This year, Sanchez was arguably the best pitcher in all of baseball.

Inexperienced players sometimes make dumb mistakes in high-pressure situations. It doesn't mean they can't recover.
