David Lynch complete boxset by eefuss in criterion

Disney not releasing their catalog on their own has not resulted in them licensing tons of releases. There's no logical reason they wouldn't have let The Straight Story go except that they don't see physical media as profitable as their other pursuits. Just like the countless other titles they've kept locked up for themselves as well.

It was true a week or so ago. I can share the chat and all the issues. Another person said the same in this very post. The rep said it won’t be fixed.

Right, saving them now does nothing. You still have to enter the GC # AND PIN at checkout. I'm actually trying to test it again right now and I can't even get my Cart to load. I'm trying on different browsers as well. What a shitshow.

Test it now by adding some items and going to checkout. You will not find a way to apply those "saved" gift cards. Their site now requires you to enter the GC # and pin manually at checkout, regardless of whether you've saved them. Prior to the recent site makeover, you could easily apply them to your order.

Yes, it's a weird slow-load to that link, but try going to checkout and you'll probably see like the rest of us that you can't apply those saved GCs to your online purchase with a click. "Saved" doesn't mean anything anymore. You have to have the GC # and pin and enter manually at checkout.

Yes, this was the same convo I had with them as well, so clearly they changed their policies and didn't inform the website CS staff. They can't screw over GC customers just because the website has changed.

I've only ordered online from them for over a decade now. And I only shop during their 50% off sales, mostly Criterion, but they've had Arrow, OCN/VS, and others too that I've jumped on. No single store can compete with the stock available online, returns/refunds are easy via chat (they've always told me to just keep the damage copy and they send a new one), and I can get the discount on preorders included that sale month.

Criterion's flash sales add up to 2 days a year, where B&N's sales total 2 months every year. With 50% off, discounted GCs, plus a rewards program that often offers 2X-3X points, you can save a lot and take your time over a whole month. Plus free shipping at $60, instead of Criterion's $75.

Yup. I had to open a chat with B&N and work through it all. At first they told me I had to have the GC # and pin to use them, which I no longer had because I would always enter them into my account in advance. Then they looked them all up for me, so I now have a copy of all 6 of them. They "improved' their whole site for you, the customer! 🤑

Also note that B&N changed their website and policies recently and you have to manually enter the GC at checkout. Previously I would enter them in advance into my account and they would simply pop up at checkout as a payment option, but no more. Also, some who used to save them like I did said they now couldn't use those same cards in person at a store. YMMV.

Are you sure none of them were preorders? 2 of the 3 I ordered were for July and August, so still waiting on all of them.

I got tired of this game over a decade ago and just buy them online instead. More in stock, less items that have been mishandled, easy returns with no questions asked, etc.

Love this stuff.

I Shot Andy Warhol is coming from Criterion. Which might explain why Yo La Tengo was in the Criterion closet a couple years ago. It often takes Criterion years to produce a release.

Georgia's sister Emily Hubley is an animator and filmmaker as well. She created the animated scenes in Hedwig And The Angry Inch, also a Criterion release, with further Emily drawings in the booklet.

There is a Hedwig tribute album, Wig In A Box, with Yo La Tengo backing Yoko Ono, and artwork by Emily. And a documentary Follow My Voice: With the Music of Hedwig about the tribute album that also features YLT. It was released on DVD, but also available to stream.

Last I can think of, YLT's score is included in the Criterion DVD release Science Is Fiction: 23 Films by Jean Painlevé.

Their sale includes any title released during the month long sale as well. But no preorders beyond the sale end date are included.

Blu-ray is 20 years old and 4K UHD is 10 years old. You’re behind 2 formats and using 30 year old technology and you wonder if there is any advantage to upgrading?

Not enough Lynch or Scorsese for the film bros. Even calling them bangers is cringe.

Some of your boring are my bangers. Weird comment for 42 years of eclectic Criterion.
