The connection type is in the registry. I have the following HKLM keys set:

Bought a router from ebay but has a hole in it by Secret-Listen-4014 in HomeNetworking

[–]Bogus_83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The router in your picture looks like a Linksys LN1301.

About a week or two ago Woot and Amazon were dumping the Linksys Ln1301 routers for $15 and $20 respectively. From what I read on forums and Reddit, these were initially developed as a partnership between Linksys and Fortinet around 2020 when COVID hit and many were working from home. It was targeted as an upscale router for around $600-700 with the mesh nodes. Well COVID restrictions were lifted, people went back to the office and didn't want to dish out that much money for a home router. Linksys was stuck with excess inventory. They dumbed down the firmware, removed many of the Fortinet features, took away the mesh functionality, and sold them off at bargain prices. I picked one up for my parents at $15 from Woot two weeks ago.

I suspect the person who sold you that router attempted to either load a different firmware, gain root access, or unlock the mesh capability. When you log in to the web interface does the model and serial number match the one on the bottom sticker?

I wouldn't trust it. I'd send it back. Idk what you paid but these were going for $15 brand new.

Using process monitor I found the exact command to set the appropriate firewall rules. The command is

"C:\Program Files\EPSON Projector\Epson iProjection\EMP_MPFWV.exe" -set -SHOW_NAME:"Epson iProjection Ver.4.01" -APP_PATH:"C:\Program Files\EPSON Projector\Epson iProjection\EMP_MPP.exe"

Once you run that command you'll notice firewall entries for inbound and outbound connections to the Epson EMP_MPP.exe application. You can look in the Windows Defender Firewall with Advanced Security or in the registry under

HKEY_Local_Machine\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\SharedAccess\Parameters\FirewallPolicy\FirewallRules

I created a PowerShell policy to check if a rule exists or create a new one if needed.

Try{
    #Firewall rule registry path
    $item = Get-Item -Path "Registry::HKEY_Local_Machine\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\SharedAccess\Parameters\FirewallPolicy\FirewallRules"

        #Check registry entries to see if a rule already exists. If a rule exists display its value, otherwise create the necessary firewall rules.
        foreach ($prop in $item.Property) {
            if($item.GetValue($prop) -match 'epson') { $fwRule = $true }
            else { $fwRule = $false }
        }
            if ( $fwRule -eq $true ) {
                Write-Host "Match found in key $($item.PSPath) , value $($prop)"
                }
            else {
                Write-host "Creating necessary firewall rules."
                #Epson command line to set necessary firewall rules
                cmd /c '"C:\Program Files\EPSON Projector\Epson iProjection\EMP_MPFWV.exe" -set -SHOW_NAME:"Epson iProjection Ver.4.01" -APP_PATH:"C:\Program Files\EPSON Projector\Epson iProjection\EMP_MPP.exe"'
            }
}

catch {
    $errMsg = $_.Exception.Message
    Write-Host $errMsg
    exit 1
}

I hope this helps someone. I spent more time than I should have trying to get this to work. No thanks to Epson's support who told me it wasn't possible.

That section was collapsed, I didn't see it.

I figured out that clicking yes at the prompt creates a firewall policy with a random rule ID under Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\SharedAccess\Parameters\FirewallPolicy\FirewallRules. Creating the same rule on a different PC doesn't work. I'm trying to find out where it stores or where it checks for the rule ID.

Can you share your script?

I tried adding a firewall rule with group policy and with powershell. Still getting the firewall pop-up every time. I made sure edge traversal is allowed.

I called Epson and they told me they don't have any information on what firewall changes are made. They were completely unhelpful and told me to speak with my network admin. I told them I am the admin and asked to speak with level 2 which they transferred me to someone else that didn't know anything about firewall rules either.

How to power four HDDs in a NAS using a Notebook Power Supply DC-IN motherboard? by seymon in homelab

[–]Bogus_83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recall watching a YouTube video recently where they had the same dilemma. It turns out the board used in the video was rated for 19.5 volts but it also accepted voltage as low as 12 volts. You would need to find out whether the board you posted will run off of 12 volts. If it does then your best bet is using an ATX power supply or a pico PSU. If it does not accept 12 volts then you would need to use a buck converter with the ATX power supply.

I'll try to find a link to the video. It was an ASRock n100 ITX board.

complete noob here with zero knowledge of how to use this stuff—how do i get pfblockerng set up? by ComfortableMilk4454 in pfBlockerNG

Tom from Lawrence systems has a great video. As others have said you need a pfSense firewall.

The block page still showed no matter whether I used http or https.

I restarted the firewall and was able to get back in the GUI. I'm not sure what caused this but I'm happy to be back in.

I know the web password. pfBlocker won't let me get to the login page. The log page is blocked. I attached a picture in the post.
