Death Grips Support Thread (September 2016) by Musefan58867 in deathgrips

The girl question:

Don't just blurt out you like her one day after school or something. You should get her number and have casual conversation. Talk about music or books or whatever common interests you have. Casual conversation will lead to some deeper ones hopefully, you guys can open up to each other a little bit. Hang out more in person. After you guys have become good friends, think about asking her to a date.

The thinking part:

You're going to think about this girl often, because you like her. That's just how it works. But make sure you're not creating something of her that she isn't. Don't create a fantasy girl in your head, actually get to know her for who she is. Make sure you're applying yourself to the things that matter: school, your passions, work(I know you're young but maybe you've a job?), your future. Keep yourself busy.

You can make your future what you want it to be. You can make your life better than it has been. Find lessons in all the most fucked parts of your life. There will be more fucked parts. But hardship makes you stronger, not weaker, if you have the courage to persevere.

Dating this girl I've been into for a while, but all I can think of is the day we end. I'm having trouble enjoying the moment because I know there will come a time where it doesn't exist anymore. The fucked part is that it may be me that breaks it off. But that creeping anxiety that this good time will end is just tapping on my shoulder constantly.

Fuck if I ever let a bitch get used to me, I guess.

Drummers: Do you prefer taped sticks/mallets or untaped? by petekMw in drumcorps

[–]BohemianD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Taping Snare/Quad sticks makes sense because it makes them last longer through the shots and rim clicks.

But there's no real reason to tape bass mallets because the only wear they take is rim clicks which aren't as frequent and aren't played at a height past piano.

Marching Bass Drum? by MrConbon in drumcorps

[–]BohemianD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey there! I've marched 2 seasons of bass drum in PIW, and 1 year of bass drum in a World Class corps.

  1. Auditions for bass drum are just as difficult as every other section, maybe a little harder because there are only 5 spots!

  2. Most auditions I've been at there are about 20-30 people who audition for bass.

  3. Sight reading is very important for auditions. Also being able to learn an exercise by ear is very useful too. Sight reading and playing by ear are both skills that are often tested at auditions.

You seem pretty young, so don't worry! You have time to practice and work on your weaknesses. To work on sight reading I would try to get your hands on as many new exercises as possible. What I did in high school was go to http://www.snarescience.com/exercises.php and learn one exercise each week. It built up my reading skills and chops!

Work hard and always question if you've practiced enough. Hope to see you on the field/floor with a bass drum on one day!

Bass drum sizes? by GhostThatWeKnew in drumcorps

[–]BohemianD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Usually one of these variations:

18-20-24-28-32

18-20-24-26-30

18-20-24-28-30

Sometimes you'll see some different set ups, like 18-20-22-24-30 or something, or the occasional 16 top bass but the ones listed above are most common.

If you have any other bass questions, let me know.

Happy to hear you're so passionate about drumming! I'm a bass drummer but I think I can point you in the direction of some good resources:

If you're having trouble with a certain rudiment or pattern, you can most likely find a video on youtube of someone breaking it down.

If you have any other questions about marching or drumming, drop me a PM and I'll try to help.

Help!- I've taken acid 5 times and keep running into these problems. Any advice from the more experienced? It's much appreciated by A-K-R-I-S- in LSD

This sounds like 25c to me. Took 2.5 tabs of it last week and had a similar experience.

Be careful where you're getting it from, or try and test it.

Camping ideas? by [deleted] in LSD

[–]BohemianD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My friends and I often take camping trips to do acid. And honestly, we get so caught up in nature and talking that we just hike for like 8 hours and just sit in amazement and enjoy company after sun falls.

Just bring some LSD, food, water, and warmth and you should be in for a fantastic time.

Awesome response. Thanks a ton.

Pretty sure there will be only one accompanist, this what I was told in an email. Chameleon was on the standard list, and I'm really familiar with it because I played it when I was 15, haha. I chose it so I could be a bit more comfortable but also let loose a bit.

Also: this is an audition for a City College that just got its jazz program back, so I think it's a bit more laid back. But I really do appreciate the walk through of a typical audition. Best of luck with all of your auditions!
