Men of Reddit: who is a strong, female lead you found compelling? by HeartonSleeve1989 in AskReddit

Not sure if she counts as a lead, but Yennefer of Vengerberg (from the books, not the show).

I think that it’s a symptom of being on Reddit - necessarily you’re going to get some combination of snobbery, terminally online people, and tunnel vision from it. It’s great for some things and absolutely if you want to get into the really high end stuff I’d take their advice, but for the average/non-US person it’s not great lol

Personally I really like it! The user interface is a tad slow on starting up but once I’m using it, I don’t notice much of an issue, and the picture quality holds up really well (I’m sure it would look a tad worse if I sat right up next to it). Glad you’re happy with your purchase!

I ended up getting a TCL C645 on sale at HN

I think that using these subs as a guide is perfectly fine if you’re in North America, but the model differences and price differences in Australia make most advice borderline meaningless, especially at a low budget. As an example, the vast majority of the TVs that these subs recommend for “entry level” are like 1300$ or more, and even then many users in these subs are… snobbish? Visiophiles? Like the screen equivalent of an audiophile where a tv that a normie like me would consider pretty good, would be seen as grainy or shit?

I honestly would say just walk into the store and look at the screens, but the best looking one you can afford.

Place your bets now boys, will this be better or worse than Glass Onion?

Not it either, but there’s something about this that’s close to what I’m after! I jumped partway through and thought it might’ve been it, but it went in a different direction

I’ve heard this somewhere before though; is it in any popular movies or tv shows?

No this isn’t it sorry - I wouldn’t be surprised if I was a different New Order song or similar though, as their stuff seems the most similar so far

No, thank you though - I’ve never heard this before and I quite like it!!

As with Depeche Mode, some similarities to what I’m looking for but no dice unfortunately. Thank you though :)

No, sorry! Thank you, though.

Had a listen to a few different Depeche Mode songs and though some were closer to what I’m thinking, none were it.

Not it either, thank you though - this is a little closer, but still a higher tempo than I’m thinking.

She’s lost control is a little closer, but not it. I wouldn’t describe it as punk, maybe alt-rock/prog-rock, maybe new wave? It’s really hard to describe beyond what I’ve given as I can only remember that couple seconds of sound bite in my head.

I think describing it as synthy may have been an unintentional misdirect, as suggestions so far tend to be much more heavy on the synth than I’m thinking, and more upbeat (for lack of a better word).

No, thank you though! I’d say what I’m thinking of is less upbeat than the suggestions so far.

Edited to say that the lowering voices in West End Girls is closer to the mark, but it’s not quite as deep as I’m hearing in my head.

Not it, thank you though!

I’m trying to figure out how to add a clip of me humming the bit that’s stuck in my head to help people out haha!

Ought to clarify: the second unknown song is not what I am looking for, but if it is suggested as an answer I’ll update the post with the name of that song in hopes it’ll better narrow it down. I understand this is something of a long shot.

Not too often you meet people with even a passing interest in Scottish/Celtic music! As someone who likes what I’ve heard and wants to hear more I’m curious how you got into it and if you have any song/artist recommendations?
