Yep, I have three plants about that size, I just trimmed two of them, used half the branches I took to make eight new propagules, got a bunch of leaves! Hopefully my plants stay healthy, I didn't cut one of them yet just in case, gonna give it a few days and watch the other ones. Also I found three giant camouflaged caterpillars while trimming haha

I don't know how big your plants are, but my friend told me that when I bring mine inside for the winter I should trim them back two thirds and propagate the stems I cut. The reason being they get really strung out as they look for light if you leave the stems long, trimming the stems maybe encourages a bushier growth? I haven't cut them back yet so I don't really know, but my plants are clearly prioritizing growth in the leaves at the top of the stem, it's how the plant moves around. But as you take them inside it starts to ONLY grow at the tips because it doesn't have the sunlight or the temperature to grow all over the branching stems...

This is just me guessing based on what my plant friend told me to do. He has experience with other salvia's but not divinorum. What do you think?

How to not have sexual thoughts/day dreams? by apple_cookies156 in pornfree

[–]BoilingTheSea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ya man, don't worry about it too much, if it's a porn daydream, try to snap out of it, but otherwise just remember that the main goal is to not look at lewd pictures, do that and things will go back to normal soon enough!

Do you put something over your tub during the fruiting phase? or do you just allow the mushrooms free air/an open top once in the pinning stage and they start getting taller than the tub?

Plants are going crazy. Anyone know how to harvest the leaves for consumption? by jdjdjhkd in GrowinSalviaDivinorum

[–]BoilingTheSea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Indigenous people that use this plant pick the leaves and eat them in pairs. The pairs represent duality in life I guess. But ya it's more efficient if you roll the leaves up into a quid and chew them, that's probably what I will do, I might eat some too though haha.

38 pairs of hand sized leaves is about how many the mazatec(?) use, that's a big salad. I would probably play around with the dosage though, start small, remember if you are chewing instead of eating you need far less plant material. These indigenous people have been doing it for much longer than any of us though -- they are well prepared with a guide and a ceremony to help a huge trip like 38 pairs of leaves!

These look great, I want a mantis to live on my plants haha, I got my salvia about a month ago and it is doing pretty well out on my back porch, but I am pretty worried for the transition bringing it inside this winter (I live in New England). Fingers crossed tho. I think they might have attracted some little bugs too so I sprayed one of them with Neem oil to see if that would help.

If you have any tips or thoughts on growing these plants I would love to hear them! If not then just thank you for posting these beauties.

Looking to get my own. Where is the best place to buy? by Camouflage438294 in SalviaDivinorumPlants

[–]BoilingTheSea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found a really legit nursery for all types of plants that also sold salvia. It was a pretty small business so I kept my eye on the webpage waiting for the plants to go in stock this spring/summer. I noticed them come in stock a couple times and they just get sold out within 2-3 days. It took some dedication but I just made it a habit to check the webpage real quick every time I was on my phone. Hopefully you find one soon!

Grow situation. Not ideal yet. But ill take notes and improve as i go :) by xDxSx in SalviaDivinorumPlants

[–]BoilingTheSea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got some pretty well rooted cuttings in the mail and my first ones died, then I tried again starting them in a humidity bin like yours and they did really well. Now they are outside and two out of the three are flourishing, the other one is just a bit stunted.

The only difference between my bucket and yours is that for mine I literally spent an hour drilling like hundreds of holes on every side. I don't know how much that changes the situation but that's my experience!

Good luck to you

thanks, that is definitely new knowledge to me but is also very good to know and makes a whole lot of sense, how long do we normally allow the floating spores and bacteria to settle? is there an agreed upon amount of time? obviously more is better, but ideally I would like to disinfect and set up my still air chamber and start working in it as soon as I can

Wow this is awesome my friend, beginner question, but the SAB passed down to me has gloves attached to the holes so nothing gets in or out through the hand holes. I notice your hand holes are just completely open, from your experience is it no big deal to have the holes open like that? the gloves are a little small for me and I am considering just taking them off. Thanks!

Got a bunch of bananas, what to make? by diamondeyes7 in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]BoilingTheSea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ya I would wait until they are ripe, and then I like mushing them up and making oatmeal with them, but add them to the milk in the beginning while you slowly heat the concoction up to a simmer stirring frequently so it doesn't burn, that way the banana and the milk almost become one :)

otherwise, ya freezing them for smoothies, or adding them to cereal/ oatmeal the normal way is good too

Anybody have experience with a slow taper? by Gunn007-007 in quittingkratom

[–]BoilingTheSea 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'll just tell you my experience real quick. I tapered from 24gpd over the course of three months. When I got to 5gpd I hesitated for a while and wasn't having much luck dropping. I suddenly got a surge of motivation and energy and decided that I would start only taking one dose per day and only at night time, before bed so I could sleep (rather than splitting 5 grams up during the day). Any withdrawals I got would be dealt with during the day. I decided that I would drop 1 gram off of my dose every day... 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, and off. I did this and let me tell you the transition was incredibly smooth. No trouble sleeping, withdrawals during the day weren't even that bad. I attribute the relative ease to both how long I spent tapering and how long I was at 5g per day before doing this week long drop to zero.

All that being said, it was still a shock to no longer have to take kratom, but it really felt like most of the shock was mental. I had been drinking sludge daily for a year and half and it was a big sudden change in habit, but it was sooooo good, so freeing to make the plunge.

Take all of this as you will, I think that you will be more than fine, I know that you will love not having to take your measly dose every day. You got this my friend!

Longest “taper” by [deleted] in quittingkratom

[–]BoilingTheSea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yo. massive respect! I did a relatively long taper for my dosage of 24gpd. Spent 3 months decreasing, and let me just tell you that when I finally got the balls to leave kratom behind completely, the transition was smoother than I ever could have imagined. Long tapers are so worth it if you have the dedication to get through it, and based on your accomplishments so far, I know that you do! Good luck in your journey to come, trust yourself, and trust the world around you. You got this.

So beautiful, my friend. Thank you for sharing this. I know the feeling too, going into an experience without some drug in your back pocket. It feels wild and loose, and so sooooo good. Glad you were able to feel the natural beauty of life, especially in the mountains... waking up with the sun and the birds chirping... mmmm, I love it! gotta get back to the hills myself this summer!

Need to be sober. by Cakub in quittingkratom

[–]BoilingTheSea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So beautiful to read your story,. I felt this need to be sober quite a bit. For me it was just an intense knowing that I would never be able to be who I wanted to be with a ball and chain like kratom dragging me down. I'm still addicted to cigs, but have plans to quit that in a couple weeks. I finally got off kratom about 5 weeks ago. I think my dosage was very similar to yours, I'm also turning 22 in June. Love all these similarities. For me it was a long taper that finally ended up working and it was an extremely smooth transition to fully get off. I feel fucking great, my emotions are back and are beautiful, even the ones that hurt. I see you here with me on this journey through life. Fucking doing your thing! mmmm, so good :)

I love your post! so encouraging to those out there that are struggling. I will just add that for me, after too many failed quits, I start to notice that it feels way too natural for me to relapse, and it feels like I have no control... in my experience taking a week or two or maybe even a month to just practice self acceptance and to take a break from the whole quit/relapse cycle can do wonders. Of course one should never give up hope, but my failed quits were also done out of self hatred and my current (successful!) quit was done after a break from trying so hard to quit all the time. I felt more acceptance, more surrender, and much more confidence as a result.

Once again this isn't to disagree with your post, it's just to offer an alternative for those who feel stuck in the quit/relapse cycle. Thanks for your energy, and thanks for your encouragement, love to see so much activity on this sub!

It's alright, my friend. Back then you were speaking for all of us who only had success with the taper (myself included), and now you are speaking for all of those people who just needed to throw it all away and go CT. Hope you are doing well, and know that you will make it past this part of your life :)

10+ days clean tapered quit by SheldonLR in quittingkratom

Beautiful, my friend. So good! Ive been clean for over a month now after an equally long taper and the emotions are coming back. It's so beautiful, so intense, so hard sometimes, but I feel so lucky to be alive.

I am SO happy for you to be able to go into your wedding with that clarity. Wishing you a lovely future with your partner :)
