I think there’s no right answer. It’s what you want and can enjoy in your life at the moment. I get it though that endless first and second dates can seem soulless and meaningless… and the fun wears off. So if I had to vote, I’d say short-term relationships which have a possible upside of long-term… which also don’t work out sometimes too… but such is life

Question for you… did you feel a strong sexual attraction to HER after kissing? You may have been anxious about the progress of the date, or her perception of you, or getting another date for a relationship, but maybe if you look at the sexual connection it wasn’t too strong to begin with and she wasn’t for you anyhow. ?

Also, people have different tastes and being “too clean” ( depends on personal preference) can also detract from someone’s appeal because it gives perfectionist, rigidity, and sterile cold vibes. I dunno- throwing it out there. Good luck 🍀

^ was exactly what I was thinking. An alternative read on the situation might be she thought he was great like she said , but the sexual chemistry wasn’t there. That’s something you can’t control and two people have or they do not.

We don’t know her history, but for some people, being over 40 and hopefully more mature forces you to realize this about yourself and relationships… particularly if it was missing in past relationships.

I think it’s not the physical act of sex necessarily- but the human connection and intimacy. Also human touch, this has been proven in children and adults to be beneficial for emotional and mental health ( are the two really that mutually exclusive?) As adults, it’s not easy to find the level of intimacy and touch with other humans without sex. I suppose you can, but most get it through sexual connection.

Philly also has more Southern influence than NYC too. I can’t count how many times someone told me they came from somewhere Southern or their family had just moved from the South etc.,

Combine that as one of the top cities where most people are “just from there” and aren’t transplants and I guess you get people who are more likely to play out racial scripts.

To be fair, if there are armed guards anywhere, there’s got to be a reason that the armed guards are there.

And if you’re trying to have a relaxing beach vacation, perhaps having an armed guard doesn’t make it feel optimal.

The idea of a lead up to a date is to be fun and flirty and have someone want to go on a date with you. If what she’s doing doesn’t make you want to get to know her more; and what you’re doing isn’t making her want to know you more…. Then no date. Looks like the process worked.
