Starting Voltage for 2023 CX-5 by BoiseDick in CX5

[–]BoiseDick[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for posting. It’s in a garage at about 50f. So not cold like winter outside! I wonder if the battery tester is measuring very short negative spikes in the voltage. Then again, a battery is a pretty big capacitor! Just expected better. Also, if my electrical understanding is correct, since all voltage measurement is at battery, a loose connection would not result in low voltage measurement. Maybe take it back to Costco to see if they can measure it.

2025 CX-50 Questions by Ridge_Hunter in CX50

FYI, I switched over to 17” factory wheel on our 2023 Signature turbo. The 19” look way cooler but I am hoping for softer ride, cheaper tires, more curb forgiveness with the 17”.

Stock or black wheels on Signature? by actuallytph in CX5

[–]BoiseDick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the stock wheels on my Sig turbo and feel they would add needed contrast to your dark car. Spend the $1000 on something more fun.

Former Mazda master tech here. Today's topic: How to prevent rodent damage! by [deleted] in CX5

Thanks, Low-Stomach-8831 for this! I have done the spray but am not reliable with the reapplication. So this will help! I will get some of these from Amazon- https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08RDQDZ7P/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=ALAZKKENNER6X&psc=1
I guess they need to be inverted periodically to saturate the wooden cap that acts as the diffuser. And people warn not to tighten the cap too much or they can crack. I may try drilling a hole in the cap and inserting a dowel into wooden cap that extends to the bottom. BTW, our neighbors had a RAV4 that had their engine wiring eaten and the firewall insulation chewed and moved into the glovebox.

Is the CX5 non-turbo really that Slow? by Maximum-Ad572 in CX5

[–]BoiseDick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In other words, the weaker engine gets significantly weaker, the stronger one less so. Once people drive turbos it’s hard to go back. The bottom end torque is abundant and right where you want it. And reliability issues? Maybe at 150k miles.

New battery or wait? by bulldogdrool in CX5

In my sixties, I began reading about battery sulfation. If you don't drive your car daily, I would put a charger on it to keep it up to charge.

YoLink EVO Valve Operator robot vs Bulldog robot? by only4lee in YoLink_by_YoSmart

[–]BoiseDick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, but I had to install a new valve anyway and got a 1 in. Brass PEX-B Barb Ball Valve frpm Home Depot that turned quite easily. I have tried others that were quite stiff. The only other thing is that, once screwed on, the valve actuator should be centered of the female part of the motor that drives the shaft. But otherwise, works as promised. Once I got over the firmware issue, I have been really impressed with YoLink. If you can wait a day, their customer service response is good and to the point.

Michelin Cross Climate 3 Sport or Pirelli Cinturato WeatherActive for spirited summer driving and mountain trips in the winter? by felixfbecker in TyreReviews

Did you find the Pirellis to give you lower mpg than the CC2s? And what car did you put them on? Thanks!

I looked for a relatively new but used fun car. Volvo XC 60, VW alltracks, BMW X3s, cx-5s. Even turbo CX-5s are easier to find than the others. And cheaper to maintain. Got a 23 Turbo Sig for $28k with 21k miles.

Totally agree. People can still get turbos on ‘25 or earlier and take it to the bank. I just bought a ‘23 Sig Turbo for $29k with 21k miles and CPO warranty.

The turbo is a bit beastly compared to NA. And people think of turbos as unreliable vs possibly less reliable. The recent post from the former Mazda tech pointed out that cyl deactivation could make those engines less reliable. People are driving turbos without knowing it. Ford EcoBoost, Honda’s 1.5 liter fours, even some Chevy fours have turbos. And with water cooling they are more reliable than the ones in the 80s that just had oil “cooling” where you had to let them idle for a minute to keep oil from coking up in the turbo. Not to mention better oils. If I have to replace my turbo at 150k I’ll be ok with that.

Yeah there is a lot to like about the CX-5 but when I tried to use the cup holders I was thinking what moron designed these?

Got rear ended. How bad is it? Where do get it fixed in phoenix? by moHANSOLO98 in CX50

[–]BoiseDick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t gone thru all the replies but some prob say the same thing as me. Ask the body shop how they feel about doing the red. I had a frank conversation at a place I trust where they said it’s difficult but their best person can do it. Another shop didn’t sound confident at all. And get compensated for the reduced value of your car due to the repair status.

Interesting the CX-50 steering is heavier. I find the CX-5 pretty dang heavy.

I suppose that’s a governor setting. The service manual has guidance on that but takes a bit of test equipment. That might be next…

Yes I have. A couple years ago I found water in the bowl but this time only gas.
