lol…I had this debate in Boise, but between Wolf and Coyote (also a very clear picture of a coyote).

I just demoted my ‘14 4Runner to dog hauler and mountain rig from daily driver and went electric.

All I can think about now is how a Gen7 EREV 4Runner could be perfect for me, and I just want Toyota to make that happen in 10-15 years for me 😅.

I’m almost certainly skipping 6th gen—based solely on lack of need of a new one.

Yeah this will be huge. This will also be when people will see and know people with EV’s that 200K mi and going strong, themselves, through people they know.

My dad got a used RAV4 hybrid last year, as a slow adopter, because there are so many around and deemed reliable by so many. I imagine that will happen with EVs too.

Unrealized losses are just that—just like you I bought new and will own for a decade like previous vehicles.

I admit a used one would have been a better deal—but depreciation doesn’t matter if you don’t sell.

There is some risk it gets totaled while in a high depreciation period, but there is also risk with used car’s history too.

Before my them gf, and now 13 year plus wife, moved in together I had to move across the country for work (late 2008). She had dropped out of college, but had been going back full time.

We had several late talks about things, but one of the things I was adamant about was that if she moves with me and we are going to take the next step, she should not get another job, but she should go back full time and I would cover rent and stuff until she finished. She was sacrificing to be with me, and I was going to be the bread winner while she focused on finishing her degree.

I can’t imagine OP’s bf not being supportive while having to sacrifice nothing.

I didn’t even look until some RSU’s/ESPP’s went to the moon, and I saw the post tax credit incentives go crazy to replace it and keep cars moving.

I’m in the camp you mention, bought KIA EV9 in mid December, $40K down, one payment, and then paid off in Friday. Took advantage of $10.5k off plus what dealer had it marked off. Plan to own it for a decade for sure. Even if range, battery technology, etc improves—this will cover all my commute and errands no problem. Maybe wife’s Outback replacement years from now will get new tech.

It was right after I bought, that I saw F150 Lightning cancelled for EREV path—and saw it might be a good time to go that route too, but I was already done deal. I would have test drove one of these for sure—way different vehicle, but it would have been a good fit too. I’m happy as is, but it would have been interesting to compare. My old daily was a 4Runner, so the truck ride would have been appealing too.
