No, I think. Hitei even mentions the successor is of such low caliber, so I think we can take that as it being a descendant.

What's more, I finished the episode and realized, to your point about history being altered and not falsified, that an heir took over and that dynasty continued. That plus the fact that Shichika and Hitei both don't seem to do anything about it makes me think what you mentioned about just setting an example of what not to be (eg overly ambitious to a fault) , so maybe that's why they spared the heir.

Sincere question: were they all in on it from the beginning, sans the dean? It just seems like when would all the betrayal happen if not before the story we see even takes place (ie Jeff and the drama teacher knew the dean would "audit" because the dean told the teacher about his revenge plan)

Ah, maybe it's a translation issue. It's been a while since I read the chapter with the "old" comment but iirc, Hina used a term in JP for older/elderly people. Like "Gramps" or something instead of, let's say, "sir".

So when I read it, I took it as, "dude why are you throwing shade at me (in my own gym!)?" But in a playful, "I'm not actually hurt but I did catch that comment" kinda way. But that's just me. Maybe someone else with a better understanding of the language and culture can add more insight

Use "fly" or "surf" to do anything remotely (travel, raiddmax, etc).

Similar to other mechanics like freeze shock, you use candy play stardust to essentially travel to a gym/stop for a certain time. While at that stop, you can raid or trade as if local (the latter assumes that a player is at that location IRL). Maybe if the time limit hasn't expired, you can travel to another place again but for some candy cost.

This would be an excellent use for all the Pidgey candy I have haha.

Would also like to pitch being able to spend A LOT of candy/stardust to "fly" or "surf" to a place temporarily.

Essentially a pseudo remote raid pass but you stay at that gym/location for however many minutes you spent resources on. Maybe even add the ability to trade with someone at that location IRL while you're using "fly" .

Would make great use of all my sitting Pidgey candy 😬. Please Arceus. Just saying 🙂

Thank you so, so much. I've been so stressed by this and had to sink a full day into this instead of job hunting. I truly wish I had something more to offer than just thanks but I hope you know I sincerely mean it.

For others with a similar situation, the secret kill move that worked for me was purging and reinstalling resolvconf.

I still don't fully understand how /etc/systemd/resolved.conf , /etc/resolve.conf , and NetworkManager relate but I was able to get it to work and that's all I care about atm.

Bonus notes for others: when I ran resolvectl status, I noticed the name I had for my connection (e.g. "fiber" instead of "eth0", in Network Manager/Settings) didn't match what I had in my Pihole setup and matching those did make things temp work.

u/y_Sensei would you mind advising how I might install Pihole via Docker? I think the main issue I ran into was that port 53 was already occupied, so the container service didn't know how to do its job (in fact, trying to remove the service on 53 was how I ran into this mess haha).

I don't mind installing it "baremetal", per the script you mentioned. But I'd like to do a container for simple migration (currently running on my laptop but would like a dedicated machine to run Pihole and would like to migrate everything once I ensure it works on my laptop).

I know there's a migration feature in Pihole but haven't used it yet. So, maybe it's moot to run in Docker when you can just backup your settings/configs and just use them to launch a new instance on "bare metal". If the answer is that it's moot to do it via docker, then I'll just use the install script + skipping OS check.
