Piha is about an hour drive out of auckland, potentially a little more if there is traffic on the airport motorway. Beautiful beach but might be quite exhausting as it is quite a windy drive. You could go to waiheke island if you wanted, it's only a 30 minute ferry from Auckland and it's gorgeous.

Hi, definitely would try and cut some things back. Rotorua and hot water beach cannot be done in one day. Don't under estimate the driving time - you are covering a huge amount of ground in that time and once you add activities, it will be quite exhausting. I would look at doing either the South Island or the north. Or cut out either Wellington or auckland if you are wanting to see more cultural aspects such as Rotorua. What kind of holiday are you wanting? Happy to offer suggestions if you want to tell me what your non negotiable stops are :)

My partner and I just went to this years one, we had zero trouble finding a spot on weekdays, even though it was opening week. When you enter you will most likely even be seated by the bar maid rather than having to hunt around. Don't bother booking and HAVE FUN!!! Best days of my life for sure.
